Oblivion
I am running compiz fusion with the standard show-off settings (cube with skydome and all that jazz) and I want to run Elders Scrolls IV: Oblivion but I don't know how. I made a fresh install via DVD (backup mind you) and run it through wine. The menu pops up (asking if I want to play, uninstall, exit, etc.) and I click play but the window pops up for a second and leaves. Could compiz be the

LLVM nightly installer for Windows is missing lldb's python35.dll
Hello! After having a large feud with gdb, I decided to switch over to lldb under Windows like I already had under Linux. However, when I installed it using the 64-bit LLVM nightly installer, it kept crashing upon startup. Popping it in WinDbg (oh the irony) showed that it was trying to load Python35.dll, but it was loading the 32-bit version I had installed separately. The fix was simple:

Hybrid graphics, Wine with Bethesda games
I just bought a new laptop and decided to go for Linux. I'm getting to know the Terminal slowly, but I'd like to run Oblivion and Fallout 3. The specs are sufficient. The problem with these games (I haven't tried others with Wine yet) is that they don't seem to recognize the other graphics card in there, in addition to the Intel chipset, and that is Radeon HD 5700. In fact I'm

Wine just changes screen resolution.
I'm quite new to Ubuntu and so to Wine too. So I installed Oblivion using Wine, and everything went well. But when I tried to run the game, nothing else happened but the screen resolution changed to 640x480. That happened when I clicked "Launch Game" on the start up menu of the game. Should I change some conffigurations or something?

Wine lags A LOT when programs are started—and getting worse
Hi, I'm a pretty new Linux (Ubuntu) user, only a few weeks, and I few days ago I started having troubles with Wine. I posted this over at the Ubuntu Forums but haven't gotten a reply yet, so I thought I'd try here as well. I'll just quote my posts. First post: > First off I'm new to Linux, so sorry if you have to explain something twice to me. > > Basically my

Wine 1.0 on Fedora 16 64-bit
Hello I am trying to install Oblivion on Fedora 16 64-bit but am having problems with the install sheild crashing. I have read that this is because of the 64 bit wine so I am trying to build an older version of wine from source. However I am having problems with this aswell. I suspect that this is because of the 64-bit OS aswell. the reason I say this is that it appears 'make' is still

SecuROM and Wine on Mac OS X
Bah! Okay, so I'm running WINE v1.1.43 on Mac OS X.6.3. Now, I went and bought myself a copy of Oblivion (Game of the Year Edition), but it's got smelly SecuROM in it, which I understand WINE supports? However, whenever I try to run one of the "protected" (from customers) programs it complains that there is no disk. The disk however is there alright, and I have a mapping for

Can't upgrade or reinstall wine
I'm running Ubuntu 11.04. I wanted to hold off upgrading to 11.10 until they got some of the glitches fixed, but by coincidence (I guess) at the same time 11.10 became available the updater started listing what I presume is the upgrade from 1.2.2 to 1.2.3. I can't tell, because I can't get my system to install it. I keep getting the error message "Requires installation of
