Question from XM Radio
Hello folks. I understand this is the development email address, but I don't have any others to use, maybe you can help. I'm an engineer at XM Satellite Radio in Washington, DC. I'm scouting for other low bandwidth algorithms for some voice content. Speex looks pretty interesting. My goal is to find a promising codec for 2Kbps. I see the download links on the pages offer

uncompressed FLAC
What dbPowerAmp does is encapsulate the wav file into a FLAC container without actually compressing it. I guess it can be a bit arguable if you can technically call it a FLAC file :) It's like using "Store" mode in RAR, for instance. The idea behing this "uncompressed FLAC" is to give the FLAC tagging abilities to people who don't want to compress their files. But

Wine 1.2. - dBpoweramp won't recognise cdrom
Hi folks. I am trying to get dBpoweramp 13.5 to work on wine 1.2. It doesn't recognise my cdrom (/dev/sg3). I tried pretty much everything to get it working. I tried it also on different machines. Here is the discussion and a more detailed description what I tried so far at the dBpoweramp forum: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?p=101496#post101496 EAC ( in ASPI mode) is working

[PATCH 1/2] Update comparison.html
I cleaned up comparison.html, making the comparison more fair and removing manufacturers that no longer have any new hardware supporting a certain format. The table is more readable now too. --- comparison.html | 86 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++-------------------------- 1 file changed, 45 insertions(+), 41 deletions(-) diff --git a/comparison.html b/comparison.html index 9f36381..be88205

dbPowerAMP, CDex / Re: Freeware windows ogg audio CD bur ner?
There's another nice Windows program in the pipeline: Feurio 2.0 (www.feurio.de) will have OggVorbis and MonkeyAudio support. Feurio is a all-in-one solution for CD ripping/burning specialized on audio CD. Feurio supports high speed, high-quality on-the-fly ripping and encoding, and on-the-fly decoding/burning, too. Feurio supports allmost all available CD writers, and there is a

megatec driver and usb-to-serial converters
Hi all, Currently, the "megatec" driver only supports UPSes which have a serial (RS232) interface. However, I'm under the impression that most of the models that speak the megatec protocol, and have an USB interface, just have a standard serial-to-USB converter inside. This being the case, there should be a "/dev/ttyUSBx" device which the megatec driver could use just as

marginality principle / selecting the right type of SS for an interaction hypothesis
Hello, I have a problem with selecting the right type of sums of squares for an ANCOVA for my specific experimental data and hypotheses. I do have a basic understanding of the differences between Type-I, II, and III SSs, have read about the principle of marginality, and read Venable's "Exegeses on Linear Models" (http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/MASS3/Exegeses.pdf). I am pretty new to

Problems with USB-serial converters -- please advise on code fix
Hello! I've ran into this annoying issue when setting up a new server. I have an APC SmartUPS hooked up on a USB-serial converter on /dev/ttyUSB0. This works nicely, until: hub 3-0:1.0: port 1 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling... pl2303 ttyUSB0: pl2303 converter now disconnected from ttyUSB0 usb 3-1: pl2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB1 apcsmart gets into an infinite loop of this:
