Testing Starcraft 2 newly release demo with Wine
Hi. Starcraft 2 just released a free demo so I thought I would give Wine another chance to prove itself worthy (because whenever I try to install Beta or the actual Starcraft 2 - it could run but it's slow, laggy and many many black screens). Alas - despite following blogs and advises to adjust wine and use git to download latest source codes

starcraft disappointment.
I've tried everything i can think of and looked and tried a ton of hints on the page for it. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=149 Under "Starcraft is soooooo sloowwwwww (that's me)" Posted up my log and everything. I tried updates, wine updates, registry changes, switched from opengl to the default, back and forth. There are times starcraft

SC2 Beta
Trying too run the SC2 Beta patch 16 which came online last night (EST). It worked perfectly before this new version (using the HOWTO @ http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=19376). I have un-installed and deleted my copy of SC2 prior to setting it up and generating this log. At the end of the log all I have of SC2 running is a black screen and a movable cursor. Code:

starcraft runs faster from winedbg than from wine?
Hi, I have discovered i can run starcraft at (almost) full speed on my system. This only works one time, directly after reboot. When tried a second time it's all choppy again. My guess is there're some stale wine processes after the first attempt. When i reboot and start wine instead of winedebug the game video performance is choppy. When i start the game with winedbg after that The

Installing latest Wine on Debian
I installed Wine using the Lamaresh repo for Debian, but unlike openSUSE's repos, I found out that it installs and old version: 1.1.42. Is there some repo for Debian where I can install latest version from? Or should I better try building it from source? Sorry if it's a silly question. Thanks.

Current best AMD processor for running mainstream games?
Hi all, I want to buy a processor that will be good for gaming in Wine in FreeBSD. I see that many game engines are starting to take advantage of multi-core systems, however it appears that multi-threaded applications are not distributed properly across multiple cores (Ex: Starcraft II - http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=20882 ). So I'm not sure if I should aim

Some hooks in 3 Star Wars games
Despite being somewhat benign, because technically the rest of the content of the games work, these hooks make them quite unplayable because they are related to important parts of the games. Tie Fighter (collector's edition): the game crashes when you try to look at the inflight menus : http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=6923&iTestingId=19464 X-Wing

Debian repos and apt key
http://www.winehq.org/download/deblenny helpfully points out that lamaresh.net and not wine.budgetdedicated.com should be used as the source for wine packages for Debian. However, there are some problems. First the page provides less useful information than is provided by http://www.winehq.org/download/deb, which still exists and unhelpfully recommends wine.budgetdedicated.com. The other problem

Starcraft II on OpenSUSE 12.1 installing but not startin
Im running Opensuse 12.1 64 bit with KDE 4.8.2 installed. I've tried both the basic wine install as well as installing through crossover. The game installs fine after I downloaded the online version install, but after it shows 100% installed and I hit next, it briefly shows the update screen and then seemingly crashes. Afterwards, when I click to run Starcraft II it just shows the waiting

Monkey Island 2: Special Edition from Steam
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 64bit on a Thinkpad T500, I believe I'm using the integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics that come with it. I'm using the default WINE install, I think version 1.1.42. I'm trying to run Monkey Island 2: Special Edition downloaded from Steam. It actually sort of works. It installed just fine. When I first ran it gave me a blank screen and that was it.
