Wine 1.2-rc?, nVidia, and WoW 3.3.5 Problems
Forwarding to list. One of my concerns is that we don't direct users to scan the forum entries before they post. This is just one example of 'me too' messages in a series. And the maddening thing is that folks like Jim below, don't have the problem. Several 'fixes' have been posted to work around what originally appears to be brokenness in Wine, starting about 1.1.44,

Wine 1.2 + Kernel 2.6.34.2 + nVidia 256.44 + WoW = Crash!
The above mentioned combination results in WoW/Wine crashing my computer completely. It freezes completely. No mouse, no keyboard. It just sits there. I can though login via SSH from another computer, and the load is then sitting at 14-15 (using top), which is a bit high. :) The only way to get it back in normal shape, is a hard reboot. Click the powerbutton for 4 seconds, and hope for the best.

Wine 1.2rc5 World of Warcraft crash
Hello all, My wife and I just recently went 100% Linux, meaning that we no longer dual boot to Windows for our regular gaming addiction. One of the games we both enjoy is World of Warcraft, and it has so far worked a charm using Wine 1.2rc5 (we started using Wine at 1.2rc3), but today the game was patched, and now it crashes on login. Some data: Wine 1.2rc5 Slackware 13.1 kernel 2.6.33.4 Nvidia

WoW on Ubuntu 10.04
Hi, some time ago i've installed WoW in Ubuntu 9.10 using wine 1.1.42 (wine1.2 ubuntu package). Everything fine, had a few fps problems but with some tips found in wowwiki i've manage to increase fps to about 20. Some users would say it's still low, but i was happy with it. Well, some weeks ago i've updated to Ubuntu lucid (10.04). It's great, but my WoW fps drop down to about

Workaround: stuttering legs in WoW 3.1.x
Hi there, I recently found a workaround for the "stuttering legs" bug in WoW, which is currently described in AppDB. It should work for everyone using gnome - so, since this is widespread, I thought it would be a good idea to share the workaround with you. I noticed that the running animation is all okay when activating auto-run - and that holding down the "run forward" key

WoW Tunneling services in Wine?
G'day guys, I'm a long time WoW windows xp player and have recently made the switch to Wine/Ubuntu. I normally use a WoW tunnelling service (Lowerping, Battleping or Smoothping) to lower my WoW ping from the 400's to the 200's. (I'm in Australia which is why pings are so high) Although I've managed to get WoW up and running in Wine just fine (no hardware cursor yet but

Problems running WoW
Heya, I'm new to all things linux and wine, so forgive my noobiness. I've installed World of Warcraft in wine by extracting the cds to the same directory and ran install.exe; that ran fine besides an error at the end saying that it couldn't add WOW to my add/remove programs. When I try to run it however from ~/.wine/drive_c/wow/WoW.exe I get the following: Code: [root at localhost

WoW + Wine + Twinview = Annoying jumping cursor
Ok, this isn't really a simple thing to describe so I'll state the basic problem first and things I've noticed that are most likely associated with it. The problem is while playing World of Warcraft on a Twinview activated X-Server, the camera will do random jumps around my character when the mouse is clicked. Now by 'random' I actually mean a few things: 1. This

Questions when running WOW and other games in frames.
I have a numbers of questions. I know about half of them are probably program related (World of Warcraft) but I figured I'd group them together for the most part. First the states. I'm using a Dell Inspiron Laptop (their Ubuntu line). I reinstalled Linux myself (had to redo the partitions) and dual boot Ubuntu and Windows 7, Wow does work under Windows 7, but what's the fun in
