How to Disable Printers
I'm trying to stop wine from recognising my printers, however whenever I delete them from the registry, it just recreates them. The reason I'm doing this is because an application I'm using doesn't like printers with names greater than 59 characters (This isn't wine's fault as it does it in Windows too), and it prevents me from using certain parts of the program even

Configuring printers in CentOS 5
Could someone please explain to me how to best configure printers in CentOS 5? I've been trying to configure a new printer, which is served by a Mac Mini: If I open a web browser at localhost:631, or "system-configure-printers" and I configure the new printer as an IPP printer, it winds up in a list of "Remote printers", and once it winds up there I can't seem to

No printers visible on Mac OS X Snow Leopard
I am a wine newbie so forgive me if this was already answered, but my Google foo is not good enough to solve the problem. I just installed wine version 1.2.2 on Mac OS 10.6.6 using Macports. I also installed gdiplus using winetricks. I am not able to see any of my Mac printers on Notepad's Print Dialog. The only printer visible is "Microsoft XPS Document Writer". I have tried to

Printing server on samba, autoconfiguration of printers on client side ?
Hello, Sorry for disturbing, I'am not sure it's really a samba issue. I have printers shared on a samba box (which is also PDC), using cups. I can print, install drivers, download them, etc ... but the probleme is, how can I tell a win client to use the config from the samba server ? For instance, I have a printer who has only a4 paper, the printer is configured on the samba server.

Sharing printers across subnets?
Hi everyone, I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but I'm having trouble getting my printer shares to be accessible on other subnets. I'm running Samba 2.0.3 (yes, I know it's OLD), and I'm using it only for printer sharing... It's set up to allow guest access only, since I'm only sharing printers. My two domain controllers are running Windows 2000 Server

Inconsistent printing on Centos 7
I have ongoing issues with my Xerox Phaser 2550 printer under Centos 7. It always worked without any issues on Centos 6 before I upgraded to Centos 7. The problem manifests itself by regularly (but not every time) printing page after page of garbage instead of the document that I wanted to print out. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The same document might print fine now but then

Darwine Can't See CUPS Printers
A month ago I had my Quicken working great and printing from Darwine running on an iMac. I attempted to use CUPS-PDF to make a PDF of an invoice in Quicken and Quicken said there were no printers installed. So, something changed since my last printing but I had installed some new apps and some additional winetricks so I assumed I broke something. I deleted my Darwine folder, my wine plist file and

Printer settings on 2.2.5
Hello. We are using a Samba 2.2.5 as a PDC on a Debian GNU/Linux server. This server also handles a few printers, through LPRng. On the Unix side, no problem (duplex, simplex, short-duplex), everything works fine. I followed the instructions from the howto collection "Printing Support in Samba 2.2.x" to make these printers available on Samba. Most of the described procedure worked

How to tunnel Samba via ssh from Windows XP without having to disable local NetBIOS
The most recent discussions I could find on the internet about how to tunnel Samba over ssh were on this list (http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2004-February/), but no complete answers were given. Here is a near complete answer, which works, pulled together from various sources on the web (which are referenced). Remaining questions are at the end. It is kind of PuTTY-centric, but as far as I

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I have a strange problem with samba (3.0.23), cups (1.2.1), windows 2k (all patches up2date) and the printer drivers (cups 5, cups 6). I setup samba to share the printers configured in cups and added the printer admin privilege to some users. Now I can upload the printer drivers using cupsaddsmb. This works without any problems. Even my Windows 2k

Hosted printer drivers can not be used
Hai Marco, In case of your setup. This is a design flaw, or nicer rephrased.. :-p You missed a few things. ;-) You need a few things more to make this work. Expand the following branch in the Group Policy editor: Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options, where you need to find the policy Devices:

[fdo] Custom printer list for all applicatons
Hi, I would like to discuss issues with printer list displayed to users within open source desktop. In large environment, the cups printer list may get very long, and we need a way to display only relevant printers to the user. There are so much printing panel out there, and they are not using a printing framework other than libcups. So, I changed the libcups library to return only printers
