I posted this on Ubuntuforums but after reading a bit more it seems this is mostly used for gaming questions so I decided to come here. I am running 64 bit Ubuntu intrepid (still a beta but a release candidate). I can see Wine in my application menu but when I go to Programs/Acessories/Notepad nothing happens. creating built-in firewall for Wine
Hello! I want to have firewall/monitor in wine. Configuring Linux firewall is an external solution that affects all programs etc. The idea is to create configuration file for black- and/or while- list that would be analysed by wine during connections requests. The brute way is to modify ws2_32 dll source directly, but maybe there is more accurate way. Could you suggest where to start digging?

Unable to run TeamViewer 13 under Centos 7 (amd64)
Hi, I am writing a book about Unix (Linux / FreeBSD) and my book needs documentation for TeamViewer13 running under Centos 7 (64-bit). Unfortunately, running TeamViewer does not get me a GUI -- the install went smoothly and teamviewerd daemon is running. This happens only under Centos. Under Manjaro, the same tarball (teamviewer_13.0.5494_amd64.tar.xz) gets me a nice TeamViewer window. But

Question on Wine CPU usage
I made some simple comparisons about CPU usages between running Wine and running XP on a VirtualBox. In both cases, I ran exactly the same 2 applications with about the same configuration. The Wine I use is 1.3.26. The XP is XP Home with SP2 but trimmed down to nearly its bare-bones (having only the possibly minimum number of services running). The computer is a Dell Studio laptop with

Installing Google's Picasa for Linux on CentOS 5
I downloaded the .rpm file from Google and am trying to install Picasa for Linux on CentOS 5. I get the below error. Is this because I'm using SELinux or because of something else? I found a small Picasa folder in /opt (24 items, 143.7 KB) but it seems to end there. Picasa is one of the programs my wife uses on Windows. TIA! Picasa vs. native photo management apps
Hi, I'm running a small business (http://www.microlinux.fr) offering various services around GNU/Linux, among which migrating folks from Windows to Linux. On server and desktops, I'm using CentOS exclusively. I know, Fedora would be more suitable, but I like the solidity of CentOS, and I can always build the odd missing bits myself from Fedora SRPMS. My heavily customized

Pulse audo in 1.3.25+
So I used to use the winepulse patch for wine. (Yes I like pulse). But since 1.3.25+ uses mmdevapi for audio, that patch no longer works. That author points to a wine multimedia git, however, after installing that I have no more sound in any wine application, and the winecfg test audio says audio failed. How do I get this new sound server working in wine? -- Sincerely, MacNean C. Tyrrell

Direction that wine is going
I had a question about where wine is headed. As a programmer, I like to jump from thing to thing myself, especially new things. However, since wine is supposed to provide a compatability layer, shouldn't it be focusing on the bricks first instead of the sky scraper windows? I'm not saying that I don't like when new directx support comes, and games tend to work better, because I do. A
