Goldmine DDE to Linux Wordprocessor
Hello,
Newbie to wine.
I have built a wine binary from source (wine-20031212). I have been
able to get Goldmine 5.0 running well with this version of wine.
Goldmine has the ability to perform a DDE interface to format some
information and launch a word processor. Essentially, to fill in some
macro pieces before opening a template. I can get the interface to work
with OpenOffice.org

Bridging R to OpenOffice
Dear members of the R Development Team,
I am looking for people with a deep understanding of R internals to
assist in bridging R to OpenOffice.
While R is a state of the art statistical environment, less experienced
users often find it difficult to work with R. Therefore, I believe that
a bridge between R and a spreadsheet program will make this transition
less painful. I sincerely believe

Metatrader Installation error
I am experiencing a problem with the installation of Metatrader4.
The problem is that at the end of the installation I receive an error message:
'Error changing registry data'. The system then proceeds to carry out a roll back routine.
I have previously managed to complete this on a Sony Laptop running Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) with Wine 1.1.42. Wine has since been updated to 1.1.43 and

Running MetaTrader 4 in Wine
Metatrader 4 ( http://www.metaquotes.net/ ) do run in Wine but is not fully compatible ie not all function are working. I wish future Wine will enable Metatrader 4 to run properly.
Another wish list is for Wine to incorporate a "File Explorer" that will show the "C:\" directory instead of having to work with the complicate Linux directory.

Re: Need help with Wine and Forex MT4??
There is a lot of interest out there in running Metatrader 4 on the Linux platform, however until Metaquotes does a native Linux version, the only option if you want to do it is to run it under WINE emulation.
What follows is a step by step guide to installing MT4 in Linux. I have used the excellent Ubuntu distribution for this task.
1) Install WINE if it's not already installed. I used

Cannot read in a csv file.
Can anyone suggest why this file http://www.mediafire.com/?afeyhhpacaq
is refusing to open for me.?
I must admit I don't know all its history but the original data was taken from an OOo spreadsheet that I edited (good bit of copying and pasting and the month variable added by hand in OOo Calc) and, then, saved as a csv file. It was not originally an English language file as far as I can

R and DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange)
R and DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange)
Dear Rusers,
I run an application (not mine) which acts as a DDE server.
I would like to use R to get data from this application,
say once per minute, and do some processing on it.
I didn't find much info on the R DDE abilities, apart the tcltk2
package in which I will try to go deeper.
I would be very thankful for any info, pointer or advice about the

MetaTrader with Wine on Ubuntu 9.10
In early 2009 I was running MetaTrader on Kubuntu 8.04. It installed and ran perfectly. I never paid attention to which version of Wine it was using. It was whatever was in the repositories.
A while back I did a clean install of Kubuntu 9.10 and never could get MetaTrader to work. It would appear to install fine but when I try to start it I get the dancing cursor for a few seconds but the

Re: Running MetaTrader 4 in Wine
I got metatrader to work but when I shut it down and try to log back in I can not do so and have to completely reinstall metatrader with a new demo account. Luckily I'm using a demo at this point but would like to use in live trading.
My problem is it doesn't save my last login in information and even if I write it down there is no server in the server window. In other words

error installing MT4
Hi, I recently learned of the Wine solution, which would mean that I don't need my dual boot version of W7 to run Metatrader. But, as I tried to install MT4 on my mac (Snow Leopard), I encountered an error. Here's the install log:

Where can I download MetaTrader 4 for currency trading?
Is there a cost involved? I already have a brokerage, but can't get MetaTrader 4 through them. Do I need to be trading through a particular broker or other entity in order to get MetaTrader 4, or can I just download an independent version to my computer?

DDE error with using QBridge networking
Hi,
I have successfully installed Q-Bridge on Wine and got it work alright
for single user use, but I wanted to also be able to use its networking
facility. This uses a separate Q-NET program with which the main
program exchanges network calls using DDE. When I try and initiate the
networking service I get a DDE error.
I am new to WINE and wonder whether DDE issues are a common problem, or

Tinn-R and DDE
Hi folks,
I'm trying to get these "call-tip" things to work in Tinn-R. I expect them
to be somewhat like Microsoft's Intellisense? Anyways, I copy-pasted the
recommended Rprofile.site and adjusted it to fit the location of my
Tinn-R.exe... It looks like this:

DDE problems
Hi!
I started using wine (wine-20020122 compiled from source tarball) a couple
of weeks ago to run a store-point-of-sale application.
The idea is to port this windows application to linux. Before porting, we
decided to check if the app could be emulated on linux with wine or
recompiled with winelib.
This is also necessary to run proprietary windows DLLs from third parties
such as credit card
