Mafia (Game that requires DirectX 8.1) install not working
So I downloaded Wine (prebuilt binary for Mac OS X) on my Windows desktop and moved it via flash drive to my Mac OS X laptop (Intel). I ran the Wine installer on the laptop and boom it was complete. Then I inserted the Mafia CD into the slot and tried running the setup.exe file. After getting an error message, I tried four more times and no success. I get the same error messages. Sorry for my

Mafia: City of Lost Heaven: Crash
Hello,
I have a problem with Mafia: City of Lost Heaven. I like to play older games, and now I got this out of my desk.
After having beaten it, I thought about modding it. Now I installed the Freeride Supreme Mod. It perfectly works on a Virtualbox with Win XP (Slow as Cr**p, but at least it works...), but on wine, when loading it, I get a page fault and the game crashes.

Re: [1.2] Trying to run MAFIA II under wine
Hello guys !
I am totally new to Wine but I have to admit that I thought there would be more problems with it - a lot of he things I tried so far worked pretty well.
A few hours ago I tried to install Mafia II ...
Done. So far...
Then I of course wanted to play but now the Mafua II doesn't ask me to install Physx -which is good- and then it fails. I couldn't even the main menu.

Cannot open .exe files using Terminal
I downloaded Darwine stable 1.0.1 and installed it. I went to /Applications/Darwine/Wine.bundle/Contents/bin and double-clicked on "wine" Then I went to Terminal and went to the directory for GTA2. I typed "GTA2.exe." The process installed GTA2. I went to /Users/brianlee/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Rockstar Games/GTA2 in Finder and double-clicked on GTA2.exe and only a weird

WoW - WotLK - install is a hassle :(
Very disappointing on the install so far. The files are on the disk in
some format that is only letting me see two of the 'some number more
than two' files that are there. One of the files I can see is and
Install.exe but it does nothing when double clicked, nothing when I
right click and select 'Open with "Wine Windows Program Loader"'. When I
try to run it from a
