This is my wine day: subpixel-AA is here
This makes may day; it actually makes my week!
I can't believe the genius wine developers have implemented subpixel font anti-aliasing in 1.1.12! All the apps look 100 times better now! I have opened Word 2003 about 10 times today just to look at the new beautiful UI! I have waited for this ever since I started using wine (~ 2006).
This is my personal wine day! Thank so much, wine developers

Optmatch Package Question
Hello ,
My optmatch package is loaded on R and otherwise running fine.
I get an error after lcds successfully completes a logistic regression and
I then try to obtain a propensity score:
pdist <- pscore.dist(lcds)
Error: could not find function "pscore.dist"
Does anyone know if pscore.dist is part of the optmatch package,
or is it contained in another package that I need to

Subpixel by default?
Hi. I know that subpixel rendering is supported in wine. However, it is not turned on on default setting.
You have to add this to registry:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
"FontSmoothing"="2"
"FontSmoothingType"=dword:00000002
"FontSmoothingGamma"=dword:00000578
"FontSmoothingOrientation"=dword:00000001
Can this be added by

Problem getting subpixel AA font rendering to work
Hi... I'm running Debian 5 (Lenny) and using wine packages from http://www.lamaresh.net/apt lenny main, which contains wine version 1.1.12.
I've installed MS Office 2003 without problems, but when I start up word the fonts are choppy/blocky/what-have-you, but certainly not being AA.
I came across a thread on this forum that suggested adding a file to the registry. I can do that on

In case anyone's curious about 30bpp framebuffer support, here's the
current status:

Ben and I have switched the code to using a 256-based LUT for Kepler+,
and I've also written a patch to cause the addfb ioctl to use the
proper format. You can pick this up at:

Resources for utilizing multiple processors
Hello,
I know of some various methods out there to utilize multiple processors but
am not sure what the best solution would be. First some things to note:
I'm running dependent simulations, so direct parallel coding is out
(multicore, doSnow, etc).
I'm on Windows, and don't know C. I don't plan on learning C or any of the
*nix languages.
My main concern deals with Multiple

Is anyone using * for 2 way video conferencing?
Hi,
One of my clients, wants to use * box to run weekly meetings between remote
locations over the internet.
What would be the best configuration for this? We are talking about two
conference rooms.
I am referring to the actual hardware/software and bandwidth requirements
for this to work well.
I have run two software video phones and I had marginal results with it when
displayed on large LCDs,

Yes. You need to have your signaling _exact_ when dealing with LCDs.
Some are very good at taking the timings of VESA standards. But some
support some eccentric Windows timings that are _not_ the exact same
as VESA. Or maybe you have configured your monitor for

Localization?
Hi everybody!
I started using Wine only a few weeks ago and even managed to achieve some success. I'm running a windows program, some kind of medical assistant software. It is using it's own local database, and everithing is stored in files so there is no problem with that. The program works, but I've experienced big trouble getting it to show correctly the cyrrillic symbols. Fonts screwed after preview
I'm using a Delphi 7 application that shows a report written in FastReport 4.
Before opening the report, fonts are showed ok, as this screenshot shows:

After the report is previewed, app fonts are changed to this (boldened):

The bolder fonts aren't the only problem, if I try to re-open the report,

Small Linux Distro
Does anyone have a current, stripped linux distro which has only
asterisk and net drivers?
If so do you have it available somewhere?
I guess also, my question could be, does anyone know of a small
distro, which will run asterisk.
When I say small I mean <700Mb
Also, anyone got any sites on hand which would point to ways to make
linux start up faster?
(BTW this is all in aid of making

Strange Font
So anyway, I have been using linux for years now, currently Fedora 12, and just recently I opened a box and found several of my old windows games. Starcraft, Heroes, Age of Empires, Stronghold, etc, some of which I installed.
Then I came to Masters of Orion. This game I figured my crappy netbook could handle, and I get a bunch of "??????????" s in place of the actual text in the

Garbled/blurred fonts.
I installed office 2007 using this howto over on the ubuntu forum
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1102840
Everything went great. The programs run and seem to work fine, except that the old issue of wine not rendering fonts right occurs.
This issue is documented here

The solution is to add

"nv" driver lock up where new version
I have had my "nv" driver lock up a number of times.
I downloaded the "nvidia" drivers and they did not work at 1920x1080
resolution.
I am looking for an updated driver for just "nv".
I found some once for a different driver that you just update commonXXX and
yourdriverXXX not the whole X recompile.
Where can I find those drivers?
THanks,
