Locking Problems with Samba 2.2.7
I have a new Dell server running Red Hat 8.0 Linux. I just downloaded
and installed Samba 2.2.7 from the Red Hat Web site. I am having trouble
with Microsoft Access 2000 data base locking. The program runs in a
runtime version (.mde)on each client. Only the database(.mdb), the
permissions file(.mdw) and the lock file (.ldb) are resident on the
server running Samba. Each computer can individually

No such file or directory - but it is there.
I have a problem when installing applications from a Samba share.
I have been using this share for sometime with no problems, but now
after installing 3.0.6 I have an issue.
Most applications I have work fine, only three are suspect.
OfficeXP, will start the install but it stops with the error,
installation source has been corrupted. The Samba log show it is looking

WINBIND: UID and GID false mappings on domain member
Hi @ALL
Trying to migrate to Samba AD after 12 lucky years with samba NT-domain +
server profiles and homes in a small research institute.
I decided to provision a new domain and create the users and groups using
samba-tool with most of its parameters.
I decided against classicupgrade, because I didn't get all posix attributes
automatically set and I cannot do LDAP kung-fu.
Intention is to

office xp on fedora 4
Hi everyone,
I just installed fedora 4 and the latest rpm of wine;
wine-0.9.2-1fc4winehq.i386.rpm
After it installs I go to /root/ and execute wine which creates the
.wine directory and its' sub dirs. and files. I then try to install
office xp with wine /media/cdrom/setup.exe. The installer comes up and I
proceed with the default install directory c:\program files\microsoft

Access 97 on Wine 20041019
Hi all,
I'm having trouble getting Access 97 working with Wine 20041019. Word and
Excel work just fine, as far as I've used them, but Access simply refuses to
start. I've installed off an original installer CD through the WineTools (
2.11jo) utility. I customised the install, removing everything except for
the basic application files for Word, Excel and Access. I've also

auth audit log question
Hi,
Since samba 4.7 I have setup auth logging, and while I can relate most
failed passwords to users mistyping a password, there is one kind that I
don't understand, happening across our samba-DCs.
Things work without issues, but I'm just being curious. :-)

Key table name malformed
Hi,
We are having an issue, trying to install a domain member server.
I'm following the samba wiki:
- samba 4.6.1
- krb5.conf as recommended on wiki
- time synced
- kinit works
- dns works (DCs in resolv.conf)
- setup a basic smb.conf (pasted at the end of this email)
- edit nsswitch.conf to include winbind for passwd/group
and then finally "net ads join -U administrator -d5" fails

Rails and MSDE
Has anyone worked with Rails on Microsoft''s MSDE database server? (Not
SQL 2005 Express, but the older MSDE) I''m curious on the performance
and stability of the SQL Driver for Rails. I have a client needing a
new web app, but I have to pull and store the data from MSDE (I have no
choice on changing this).

Seeking help with Samba shares & OPLOCKS & Quickbooks databases
I thought I had things figured out, but guess not. I have multi-user
Quickbooks databases that functioned fine on a Novell server but are
behaving badly on a Samba share. I have created a separate share for the
Quickbook databases, users are running Win XP Pro, latest patches, and the
Quickbooks application installed on the desktop. It is a multiuser version.
Server is RedHat ES 3, Samba

Hi guys
I setup my samba4 server with provision. (pdc1)
Then I setup a DC using net vampire after rolling back to commit 62e0a74 to bypass mdw updates that broke net vampire. (pdc2)
I had to manually add to the zone in pdc1 the follwoing records to get replication to work:
I made all the modifications in named.txt to bind

That sounds similar to our use case.

winbind problem (?) on samba 3 ADS
Hi,
I have installed samba 3.0.6 based on the "Official
HOWTO" to join out Active Directory environment, with
winbind and pam support. I have join the samba to the
domain using "net ads join -Umyloginame". I can do the
"wbinfo -g", "getent passwd" and "getent group"
correctly. I also can list shares on other machine,
using kerberos:
# kinit

Hai Mourik-Jan,
This looks all good.
Only one thing in the config, you can remove :
winbind nss info = rfc2307
Since your alread set ( for 4.6.x) :
idmap config INTECH:unix_nss_info = yes
Can you check the content of the keytab? klist -ke /etc/krb5.keytab
post ( if needed anonymized ) the content you see.
run : net ads keytab list -UAdministrator
And did you by accident run : net ads

The problem is, they don't seem to work any more. They all seem to rely
on mount.cifs and you need to be root to run this. When
