windows xp install + fedora core 6
I am trying to install windows xp in xen. The specs: Intel 2 duo E6400, motherboard Asus P5B. I can create a windows xp guest with virt-manager. The guest boots and the install starts. However after the first reboot, i see the bios screen shortly and after that a black screen. I have looked in tons of docs for the problem, but i never see a fix. How has the answer to my problem?

PXELINUX LocalBoot 0 fail; hunting for bug
Recently, I decided to pull out a new model laptop for testing related to my job at work. Dell Latitiude E6400, BIOS A14. Normally I have it set to boot CD, USB, Net, then HDD and noticed that with PXELINUX-4.02 and 'LOCALBOOT 0', it hung on me before leaving the PXE stack. I then tried 3.86 and it worked. 4.00 and 4.01 both hung when I tested them as well. Changing to 'LOCALBOOT

(semi-) rugged laptop running CentOS 5?
We're looking for a laptop to run in a 10,000', cold, occasionally wet environment, and it needs to run CentOS 5. Perhaps something like the Dell Latitude E6400 ATG? There's a reference to a minor trackball bug for the 6400 under CentOS 5 (http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=4192) but otherwise it sounds like the x86_64 version should run on it. Ideally the system would use a SSD too.

[PATCH][git-pull] memdisk/dskprobe.c
git://git.zytor.com/users/genec/syslinux.git Branch memdiskdbg-for-sha0 This starts with adding another check in two of the disk probes (by Shao; Thank you), expands the debug output, adds an additional check in the third probe and expands/reorders the debug output. At this time, it appears to resolve the MEMDISK issues that Jason Vasquez first noticed. The additional check in the third probe

ridiculous slow gigabit transfer, faster with VNC
Hi, I have a problem with file transfers between a windows systems and unix systems. I have one win32 desktop (intel e6400 2Gb Ram), one win32 laptop (p-m 2Ghz). Also one linux laptop (p-m 1.4GHz) and one opensolaris desktop (intel e4400 1GB Ram). The two laptops have built-in 100Mbit ethernet and desktops have 1Gbit ethernet on the motherboard. Both desktops use a Marvell Yukon. The file

MEMDISK issues and Dell OptiPlex and Latitude systems
Hello all. Again I call upon the greats of this mailing list to help me with an issue related to MEMDISK - notably when paired with various Dell OptiPlex and Latitude systems. The issue presented itself sometime ago and I best dealt with it by remaining with version 3.83 of the SYSLINUX package. But valuing the improved changes fostered by newer versions, I would prefer to move forward with

CentOS on HP EliteBook 6930 or Dell Latitude e6400
Hello, I'm considering the HP EliteBook 6930 or the Dell Latitude e6400 notebooks for CentOS. I'm planning on using these in a situation in which they are always on, and I want low power and low noise and high reliability. HP claims up to 24 hours battery power and Dell up to 19 hours. I figure this can bridge the gap for most power outages in my neighborhood. I realize that I

PXELinux and Boot Disk Failure on Dell Optiplex 740
I just started having an issue with PXELinux with one particular model of computer. The issue appears to occur on Dell Optiplex 740 computers, and any disk image that we try to boot with PXE Linux comes up with a Boot Disk Failure for two images or Cannot Load Kernel error for Dell Diagnostics. The error only appears to occurs on the Optiplex 740 model. I've tested PXE Linux and our boot

Dell HSPA 5530 - Built-in 3G - Not detected
Hi all, I have been trying to get CentOS 5.5 running on my Laptop for a while now. I am currently running Fedora 13 for the only reason that my Dell Wireless HSPA 5530 built-in 3G Mobile Device is working. I have tried loading the bcm43xx modules after reading several posts on Google but not able to get this working at all. I have run CentOS on my servers for a while now and love it. Just this

HDT 0.3.4 is out
HDT 0.3.4 has just been released. Since April, due to some important changes, HDT was no more in sync with Syslinux. The 0.3.4 release will solve that major issue and will be part of Syslinux-3.83-pre8. Beside this syncing with Syslinux, this release aims at solving disk's detection bugs and improving the DMI reporting. I would like to thank pam for that though work. He did most (who

Not enough storage space error
Now, its getting more detailed for the samba devs and more out of my scope.   But a small last question from me. Are you moving OU's with users and are there GPO's liked to these OU's? If yes, detach the GPO link and try moving without GPO's attached.   Still errors? Are these users logged in or not? If still logged in, try an OU without users logged in.     I also did read

Questions re PXELINUX
I have been using PXELINUX for a while and appreciate all you guys are doing! I have a couple of questions re PXELINUX: 1. I am experiencing problems with the LOCALBOOT statement on an IBM x3650. IBM mentions the following: http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5084755 I am using PXELINUX 4.04. Is this problem still attributed to some bug in PXELINUX? Right now I

DELL E6510 pxelinux issues
Hello, I have a problem with our DELL E6510 notebooks (BIOS version A05): 1. After the update from syslinux-3.71 to 4.02 LOCALBOOT no longer works. I've read <http://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php/Hardware_Compatibility#LOCALBOOT_on_Dell_Latitude_E6400> and neither version works. The behavior differs between the laptop rebooting automatically and getting stuck. I checked all versions
