Guitar Pro in Wine?
My uncle recently bought a new computer and he wants me to help him install Guitar Pro. The thing is, he doesn't have Windows, and I'm thinking of installing Ubuntu with wine on the comp. Quiz time! Can you use wine, with GP, and if you can, deos it perform poorly in any ways?

TmMidity
In trying to get NoteWorthy Composer working on my box (Mandrake 10.0, Gnome 2.4) I found a webboard for NWC under Linux (on wine). Following advice, I downloaded and compiled TiMidity. Unfortunately, when I try to follow the instructions given on the board, I get the following result [andrew@localhost rosegarden-4-1.0]$ su Password: [root@localhost rosegarden-4-1.0]# modprobe

Problem with Sound sync
Hi, everyone! I have a little Problem with running Guitar Pro 6 under Wine 1.2.2 It runs fine but the sound during playing a music-file isnt sync to the pointer that shows what note has been played right now. Guitar Pro 6 won't launch
I'm using openSuSE 11.3. Recently, I've downloaded the demo of Guitar Pro 6 in order to use it with Wine. The installation succeeded, but the .exe file (ran with Wine) won't launch. I found Guitar Pro 6 in the Wine application database but it has no maintainer. Someone suggested to install vcrun2005 - I did it with wine-tricks, but it didn't change anything and at the end of the

2 problems with wine...Full Tilt and Guitar Pro/Power Tab
Alright here we go. When I start up my computer and open Full Tilt, it works fine for about 15 minutes. After about 15 minutes, the sound stops working, and then a little after that, the program crashes all together. If I try to open it up after I force quit it, the fonts all get messed up, the sound still doesn't work, and everything is just a mess. What can I do to get Full Tilt to stop

Guitar Pro font override
I guess when I installed Guitar pro 5, it replaced all fonts wine would use, with the notes. This was winecfg. Solved the problem, but still cannot use my prog. Other than the fonts, GP5 appears to run great under wine. I'm impressed with how Wine has been coming along

I've been looking at the --progress reporting, which is somewhat improved these days. Wine and Guitar Pro 5.2
Ubuntu 8.10 Desktop, Wine 1.1.13 (upgraded from 1.0.1 to try to solve my problem). I have used used Guitar Pro very recently without a problem. After a PSU failure, I had to reinstall the OS and downloaded and installed software, including Wine. Guitar Pro appeared to install properly and its splash screen was normal. Immediately the full program ran, a fatal error stopped it. I have a screen

I'll almost certainly come along, possibly with one or two other NASA people. I could give a talk on our work using LLVM to support model checking, symbolic execution and static analysis if anyone is interested. Sarah Thompson RSE/6G, NASA Ames >

convert midi directly to Vorbis (Unix users enjoy)
Just thought soome of you all may be interested in this. It is a small simple Bash script that will convert a midi file to Ogg Vorbis at the quality you specify using TiMidity++ and oggenc. If you have any suggestions, feel free to either implement them or send them to me either on or off list. If you decide to implement a suggestion yourself, I would like a copy of your modified version of the

Developing SoundFont FLAC compressor using libFLAC
Its been a while since I was discussing a SoundFont compressor based on FLAC. I've recently implemented the compressor using an application metadata block with the ID 'SFFL' that I registered, which contains my own header and a block of zlib (gzip) compressed SoundFont info. The audio chunk (a block of consecutive 16 bit signed samples separated by 46 zero samples) is then encoded with

[LLVMdev] Writing a pass for the opt tool: likely documentation bug
Hi, I'm currently attempting to implement a pass that will hopefully run under the opt tool. Currently, I'm having some difficulties -- the sample code for the Hello pass (see http://llvm.org/docs/WritingAnLLVMPass.html) doesn't work. The first error is that the section starting 'As a while, the cpp file looks like:' omits the declaration for char Hello::ID = 0 that is

KMIDI problem
Hi gang! Running 5.1 with Gnome as the default desktop, but have installed KDE too so I can run kde apps. Kmidi is the default midi player, so if I click on a midi file in firefox it brings up KMIDI. KMIDI goes merrily along playing the file, but I get NO SOUND. My motherboard has built in audio but it's disabled and I"m using an old Audiopci 128 card which seems to work fine for
