Acer Aspire V7-582PG (Haswell, GTX 750M) fails to power off GPU via Power Resources
Hi PCI/ACPI PM experts,
Since Linux 4.8, nouveau switched to rely on the PCIe port driver to
transition to D3cold. This however does not happen for an Acer Aspire
V7-582PG (Haswell, NVIDIA GTX 750M) from Rick.
Any idea why? acpidump, lspci, dmesg and other details can be found in
the linked bug below.
Kind regards,
Peter

No sound in World of Warcraft - intermittant.
At first I thought it was due to running Mangler simultaneously, but recently we've had no sound in World of Warcraft.
One night when I was setting up to raid that night, I started WoW, and sound worked fine. I then quit WoW, started Mangler, started WoW, had sound in the first but not the second. When WoW started this dialogue box popped up saying that a change in hardware had been detected

Problems with starting World of Warcraft under Ubuntu 10.04
Hey everyone,
I recently had to reset my whole computer and I thought, I can finally get rid of Windows and just use Ubuntu.
But now, I have problems starting World of Warcraft under Wine, which should actually work fine!
I have rendering activated, but when I start WOW with this:
Code:
:~/Wine/World of Warcraft$ wine Wow.exe -opengl
I get the error:

Only stereo instead true 5.1 sound in World of Warcraft
Hi,
Im trying to get World of Warcraft to sound the same way as in win xp - i mean in real 5.1 - no duplicating channels in alsa etc...
Problem is that WoW in Wine 1.1.2 detects only stereo mode as SESound.log file in wow logs says:
Code:
8/18 16:22:22.509 - Detected Control Panel Speaker Mode = STEREO
8/18 16:22:22.509 - Setting WoW Speaker Mode to STEREO
but in winxp WoW detects real 5.1

world of warcraft drops to 1 FPS after runing for a while
Dear wine users,
I have run wow under wine successfully for a while on my old computer,
but recently I upgraded my system, and I am expreiencing a baffling
problem : WoW runs great for a while, but after about 10 minutes, it
drops down to 1 FPS. This corresponds with the cpu usage of WoW.exe
jumping from about 60% to 100%. It feels to me like the game switched
from using nvidia openGL to

Latency issues with World of Warcraft vs root/user
Hello,
The issue I'm having is when I try to run Wow in a standard user account vs root. When I run as just a user I reach latency of up to 2600ms. Along with that I'm unable to enable all my addons due to the fact that my frame rate will drop to at extremely low levels. But when I run as root (I know this is a bad idea..that's why I'm trying to fix it) I'm able to enable all

I have been playing Wow with wine for over a year, and occasionally there are hiccups along the way and so I consult all the good old wine wiki and all the wonderful places out there that give out advice on how to fix your issues.
So today there were some updates on my plate for my linux

Off center graphics in World of Warcraft.
Hello all,
I just installed the new Wine 9.23 on my Ubunut 6.06 LTS. I was able
to get WoW to run with no problem except that the graphics on the
screen apper to be moved down by a quarter of my screen, leaving a
blank area at the top. As far a I can tell the games graphics are
perfect, except for the posistion of the graphics. This only happens in
WoW, Ubuntu's desktop and programs are

Hello Community,

World of Warcraft error. "Disconnected from server."
Hey all!
I'm running Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04, the 32-bit version on a 64-bit computer. I installed the latest wine (1.0) from the terminal just by going:
Code:
sudo apt-get install wine
It installed perfectly and seems to work as it should.
I then downloaded the World of Warcraft trial from wow-europe, and installed it with wine by right clicking on it and selecting wine.
I am able to
