Performance of WinXP after xen tools installed is terrible
Hi,
The performance of Windows XP is dreadful. Absolutely dreadful.
There are only two VMs on the machine, dom0 and domU. The system
supports the Windows XP HVM domain through the good offices of
the underlying dual-core AMD cpu with AMD-V technology.
The system spends a huge amount of time running rundll32.exe.
If I kill the executable, it speeds up a bit. The performance
problem has been

I can't start video streaming
Dear Guys;
I am very beginner of Icecast, but I already setup several icecast servers
with MP3 audio music broadcasting with icecast2 (2.4) and BUTT or ices as
source clients. Those are works well for almost one year already.
I tried to make video casting with icecast2 (2.4) and VLC media player as a

samba & MS Access problems
Hi, I'm having an odd behaviour with a samba file server (3.0.14a) on

this file can't be opened by anyone else by doubleclicking on it,
(simply nothing happens), BUT if I open Ms Access and then open the file
manually from there, there is no problem.
I'v tried on Windows XP shares and this is not happening. I'v

Windows 98 games can't run off CD
Greetings. I am running wine on Kubuntu (KDE Ubuntu- same thing)
Dapper Drake and I'v successfully installed 2 Windows 98 programs.
They run fine until they give me a message saying that they can't find
the CD to run off of, and tell me to insert it. This means I can't run
the games, because they can only run off the CD. I've tried detecting
the CD drive, and it's already

You don't mention which version of libvirt you have...

LXC containers - systemd takes a long time to start
I've got a CentOS7 server (fully patched) and in it I'm running several
LXC containers. I've noticed that whenever I try to launch a service
via `systemctl start <service_name>` soon after LXC boot, it will take
~5 minutes before the prompt returns. After that initial delay,
starting/stopping/restarting services happens immediately. It might be
that this happens because

Samba (Linux) Server and Mac OS X Clients
Hi,
I'v been googling around for information using a samba server as
authentification and fileserver for mac os x clients.
At the moment I have all useraccounts and (home-)shares configured on
the samba server and I can manually connect to the server from the os x
clients.
My Questions: Has someone a how to configure a loginscript for mounting
the samba shares?
Or has someone a how to

first occurrence of a value?
Hello,
A simple question perhaps, but how do I, within each row, find the first
occurence of the number 1 in the df below? I want to use this position to
programmatically create the variable 'year'. I'v come up with a solution, but I
find it downright ugly. Is there a simpler way? I was hoping for a useful
built-in function that I don;t yet know about.

rsync takes a long time to start doing any transfers
I want to use rsync with a cloud based rsync provider to do off-site
backing up of a large (1TB) dataset which consists of 32 million+ files
spread out in 300 directories. So the amount of files in any one directory
can be quite large (upwards of 2 million).
Rsync doesn't seem to cope with this well - even doing local copies in a
directory with several thousands of files takes a long time to

Dreamweaver 8/MX in Ubuntu 10.04 64bit wont start.
I can not get Dreamweaver 8 or Dreamweaver MX to run. I have installed each one a couple of times and come to find out that Dreamweaver 8 has not been tested or at least WineHQ does not have a listing for Ubuntu 10.04 and Dreamweaver 8. Now they do have a listing of Ubuntu 10.04 and Dreamweaver MX and they do have Ubuntu 10.10 and Dreamweaver 8 listed. But when I install Dreamweaver 8 or

Wbinfo -u -g works( list users's domain), getent passwd don't give me
back info on user's domain. ( just local users in /etc/passwd and ldap
users with posix account set)
