Problem with multiboxing WoW
I've been trying to open up multiple instances of WoW under Wine for a while now... I can get two copies open at once without a problem, but I run into issues when I try to open a third. Some background: I'm running each one from a separate install, not trying to open them all from the same folder. I'm using Wine 1.1.2, and the latest binary nVidia drivers (173.14.12). I've

WoW - WotLK - install is a hassle :(
Very disappointing on the install so far. The files are on the disk in some format that is only letting me see two of the 'some number more than two' files that are there. One of the files I can see is and Install.exe but it does nothing when double clicked, nothing when I right click and select 'Open with "Wine Windows Program Loader"'. When I try to run it from a

WoW WotLK Beta cant install
With the recent release of the WotLK Beta, after running the installer and scrolling all the way through the EULA, the Accept button remains grayed out. The game works fine, if you were to install it on a Windows partition and then copy it over you would be able to execute the game. Even though this is just a Beta it would prob be a good idea to start working on how to fix this because more and

Unusual hard problem, WoW won't start!
Hi, I have a kind of annoying and what it seems like unusual problem while trying to play the game World of Warcraft. I think I have done everything that people have recommended others to try out, have been googling around for some hours now. My graphic card is: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon HD 4770 [RV740] and I have installed the drivers for it. The funny thing is that my brother uses the exact

WoW on Ubuntu 10.04
Hi, some time ago i've installed WoW in Ubuntu 9.10 using wine 1.1.42 (wine1.2 ubuntu package). Everything fine, had a few fps problems but with some tips found in wowwiki i've manage to increase fps to about 20. Some users would say it's still low, but i was happy with it. Well, some weeks ago i've updated to Ubuntu lucid (10.04). It's great, but my WoW fps drop down to about

Graphic Stutter in WoW
Good evening all, I've got a pretty bad graphic stutter that happens every 2 seconds or so. Like the whole game is stopping graphically for a second then returning to normal for another 2 seconds. I've seen the troubleshooting in the ubuntu forums here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WorldofWarcraft/Troubleshooting#Glitch%20every%203-5%20sec. I've added the SET gxApi

WoW runs *only* as root (openSUSE 11.1, GeForce 8800GTS)
Before I say anything, I should probably say that I do realize that I should not be running wine as root, however for the purpose of debugging I tried it anyways ... and to my surprise found it worked. 1 The situation First of all, this is the same installation, using the same configuration file on the same computer, etc. As a normal user Wow.exe does not even start (note that Launcher.exe does

Odd problems instaling WoW on Ubuntu 8.10
Hello all, I recently reinstalled Ubuntu and in the past have had no trouble installing World of Warcraft, but now I'm having a strange issue. First, trying to install original WoW from the CD stopped at sound.mpq. I was told I should update to the latest beta of Wine, so I did so and it was then able to go on from it, but now it gets stuck at dbc.mpq. :S Anybody know what might be going on?

WOW "fixes"
I've run across the following two articles on the wow wiki. The first link is the general page for Linux/Wine. The sound and voice chat is what I'm most interested in about the second link. Can anyone comment on how current and useful these tips are? It's nice to know that Blizzard knows about and actually seems to "care" about Linux users, but I really do NOT want to break

Wrath of the Lich King
I just installed Ubuntu for the first time yesterday, so I'm still pretty much a total noob. I installed Wine and got the other programs that I needed. Everything went smoothly. I installed World of Warcraft and Burning Crusade. Those installed fine. When I put in the WotLK disc, however, it says, "Access Denied." I also tried downloading it from the WoW website. It downloaded for

Distorted Graphics in Games.
Hello everyone. I've installed wine in linux mint. and attempted to play some games. I'm getting some weird results with the graphics. An image can explain in the best, so I took a screenshot. When I run the just about any game through wine I get these "fractured" graphics (view attached picture). Fonts are illegible and the graphics themselves are very pointy and have weird

Direct rendering disabled - apparently common on 64bit
I'm running Debian Squeeze on an ASUS UL30VT with a GeForce G210M, using the 2.6.32-5-amd64 kernel. Obviously I'm on a 64bit system. I've been trying to get World of Warcraft to run, but I just can't get it to start. I'm using the non-free nvidia driver and I followed the howto at http://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers while installing it. According to glxinfo I do in
