[LLVMdev] Type strengthening and type weakening
Has anyone done any experiments with regards to type strengthening or weakening in the context of LLVM? For example, the GWT compiler does type strengthening - that is, if you are calling a method on an interface or abstract type, and the compiler determines through live variable analysis what the concrete type is, then it goes ahead and re-writes the type information to be the stronger

call "load balancing"
Hello All, Wondering what sort of real world mileage people are getting out of different internet connecions - i.e. different DSL connection speeds, cable modems, etc... Is it reasonable to hope to carry 10 - 15 concurrent calls on a 768K DSL? I'm not talking about theoretical BW or looking for any difinitive absolute guarantee... With DSL and Cable - there is no guarantee, so I'm

SVE/SVE2 LLVM sync-up calls
Hi all, Several people have expressed interest in having regular sync-up calls to follow the progress of ARM SVE/SVE2 support in LLVM. With this effort picking up steam and multiple people contributing patches, regular sync-up calls would provide a platform to coordinate our efforts. Items to discuss in these sync-up calls would include: - SVE/SVE2 CodeGen support - Adding support for C/C++

Bug? IE, getElementsByClassName and "length"
So, I have this form/datagrid thing. I want to have a button that clears the fields (not a reset, which would set them to the default state, I want them blank.) For various reasons, getByClassName seemed the best way to deal with this. Everything was fine on Moz/Firefox. Safari seems fine. But IE... Some detective work later, it seems that the problem is caused by *another* field on the page.

count data as independent variable in logistinc regression
Dear R users, I would like to employ count data as covariates while fitting a logistic regression model. My question is: do I violate any assumption of the logistic (and, more in general, of the generalized linear) models by employing count, non-negative integer variables as independent variables? I found a lot of references in the literature regarding hot to use count data as outcome,

Scriptaculous blind animation jerky when DIV contains a lot of content
Hi I have set up the following example to illustrates the problem I am having with scriptaculous. http://www.webmaint.com/scriptaculous_demo.html You will notice the animation is very jerky and looks awful in Firefox, and it just about passable in Internet Explorer I presume this is because of the way the browser renders the data in the select boxes. Is there any work around that could create a

Best Wine Front-End
Hello I was wondering what are the best Wine Front-Ends. PlayonLinux is excellent with games that is for sure... But when I try to install the copy I bought of Babylon Pro 9 a few years ago, when I try to push the dictionaries I simply can't... So I would like to know what is the most friendly front-end in order to install applications that need patches and updates (in this case my babylon

Deploying a rails 3.2 app
Hello there, I have been working in a startup for a few weeks now, and I am responsible for setting up the production environment and for "strengthening" the product (a rails app). By the way I''ve started reading "Deploying rails" from pragprog. The deployment of the app will be done through a private beta with about 200 members. The startup currently owns a VPS

Removing intermediate variables in calculation
Hello, I have a small Puppet 2.7 module to configure Sonatype Nexus Professional. The module takes, among other things, a baseurl in the form of "http://example.com/path" and I''d like it to extract the "/path" from that variable into a separate variable IF an optional "path" variable haven''t been supplied. Here is an extract: class

mysql frontend for linux.
Hi list. I''m using Ubuntu distro. for rails development. Today, to my disappoint, I''ve found that there''re certainly almost no mysql frontend which runs very well. (1) mysql-query-browser: Seems to be very nice. But, it quickly exits when I press ctrl+enter or modify a table structure. Something strange is happening here, but I can not figure out what it is. (2)
