Good Anti-virus for Linux desktops and servers
Hi.
I'm look for an enterprise quality Anti-virus / Malware for my Linux
machines . Mostly Ubuntu on the desktop, CentOS and RHEL servers. I
must have real time scanning, on demand scanning, and centralized
management.
Is there anything out there that can do this ?

Virus scan + removal on a mdbox mail storage
Hi,
I need advice on how virus scan and removal can be done on a _mdbox_
mail storage?
On a maildir storage the virus scanner (e.g. clamav etc.) can detect
and remove a email that is infected, since every email and attachment
are stored in separate files.
But in mdbox the emails and attachments are compressed together in one
ore more mdbox-files ...
I am anxious to convert my mail

Realtime virus scanning
Hi guys,
I just came across an interesting question. Is there a way to do
realtime virus scanning on samba 3.4.7 on ubuntu 10.04.
I have found "scannedonly [1]" and "vscan [2]", but neither of them is
in the repositories meaning we will have to package them our selfs
which will become administrative nightmare.
Right now I am looking into inotify + clamAV, but before I start

[LLVMdev] Windows development and "virus" in LLVM test suite

to use LLVM. But I kind of see that as a highly valuable feature, insofar
I convert this fact into something constructive (such as FAQ writing) :-)
I actually did recommend people to disable their antivirus solution for two
reasons - the aforementioned "virus" and the speed slowdown that they'll

What antivirus program is the best for a computer?
I know that Norton might rock, but myself personally, I can't tolerate the way it uses all of my ram and slows my computer down. I use spy bot, but that isn't enough. Is there anyone out there who knows of an antivirus program that will not eat up my bank account or my computer's capacity to function at a normal rate? Thank you for your time......

Antivirus for CentOS? (yuck!)
Hi All,
Yes, I know, it's really really embarrassing to have to ask but I'm
being pushed to the wall with PCI DSS Compliance procedure
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_DSS) and have to either justify why
we don't need to install an anti-virus or find an anti-virus to run on
our CentOS 5 servers.
Whatever I do - it needs to be convincing enough to make the PCI
compliance guy tick the

I have a very nasty virus on wine...
Like the title says, I have a very nasty virus on wine. I swear I've also encountered this same one (A few months ago) on a seperate vista machine. I Have a virus that does not seem to be doing anything, and stopped working after an 'X' reboot. However, It did try to execute a modified version of winlogo.exe (Windows logon executable), but we all know you can't log onto a Linux

what information can program get about underlying system
Hello,
I frequently run untrusted programs through wine and wonder, how much of underlying linux system do I expose to those programs. I believe, that wine is quite free of bugs, but I am not an expert of Windows API and the level wine implements them.
I am particularly interested in these issues:
* If I do not connect my filesystem to wine in any way (through winecfg), is there a possibility

[LLVMdev] Windows development and "virus" in LLVM test suite
Hi,
I just filed a bug because LLVM's test suite includes a virus. This is not
normally a problem on Unix (not even Linux), but as everyone know, Windows
is so vulnerable to vira, that Windows users have to have an antivirus
solution installed. The problem is that the virus in:

Anti-virus software at Shorewall.net
For the last several years, I have been using Vexira MailArmor
(http://www.centralcommand.com) for anti-virus protection on the mail
server here at Shorewall.net. While Vexira is an excellent product and I
have been very happy with it, it costs me $300US/year for a one-domain
license. To avoid this expense, I have decided to try ClamAV
(http://www.clamav.net). I have installed ClamAV and since my

post-delivery virus scan
I have discovered that many times the virus definitions I use for scanning messages (ClamAV, with the unofficial signatures http://sanesecurity.com/usage/linux-scripts/) are updated some time after my server has received an infected email. It seems the virus creators are trying to race the virus definition creators to see who can deliver first; more than half of the infected messages are found

[LLVMdev] Windows development and "virus" in LLVM test suite
1. I can't tell Microsoft Security Essentials to ignore anything. Even if
I click Allow, it breaks the pull.
2. The issue is not me. I don't download virus infested stuff and I don't
visit dangerous sites so I rarely have a need for antivirus solutions.
The issue is the newcomer Windows user whom I have to instruct to disable
and/or remove his antivirus program if he or she wants to
