Wine 1.0.1 (Ubu 9.04) + Dan Elwell's Broadband Speedtest = Error 13 : Type Mismatch.
Hi,
sorry if this is a repost, but may be that GMANE didn't pick up the original
article yet (sent yesterday).
I wanted to try to start the http://www.broadbandspeedtest.net program under
Wine 1.0.1 (shipped with Ubu J. 9.04).
The program in question is a shareware, free download, paid to get extended
functionality, EULA.
With winetricks I have installed : VBRUN6 (required), OLE2,

Ubu edgy + latest CRAN R + Rmpi = no go
I'm just curious if anyone else has had problems with this
configuration. I added the CRAN repository to apt and installed 2.5.0
with apt-get. I then did an install.packages("Rmpi") on cluster nodes.
Rmpi loads and lamhosts() shows the nodes, but mpi.spawn.Rslaves()
fails (something to do with temp files?). Rmpi works fine with the
Edgy-native version of R (2.3.x) and installing

Speedtest.mini on a local website?
I wonder if anyone has got speedtest.mini
from <http://speedtest.net/mini.php>
working under CentOS-6?
(It's a version of speedtest that one can run
on a local web-server.)
It used to work for me, but hasn't for a long time
(maybe several years ...)
Any suggestions or elucidation gratefully received.

I want to say thanks for the information that I was given on my last

Steam on wine 1.0.1
Hello,
I've recently installed wine without any special modifiers, I did it through the add/remove programs on Ubuntu 9.04. Steam installed without a problem, but will not run. After it was done installing, it gave me the 'updating steam' box and then just quits with no error.
Here is the output of the terminal window while installing:

RE: using samba over AT@T broadband (Barry deFreese)
AT&T Broadband blocks ports 137,138, and 139. They want to protect those
Windows users that install File and Print Sharing from viruses and
attacks.

CentOS 7 and mobile broadband Ericsson F5521gw
Hello all,
I have got problems to get my mobile broadband connection running on my Lenovo T420. But NetworkManager doesn't seem to connect. I ran through the wizard for mobile broadband connections but it doesn't work.
The Ericsson f5521gw seems to run with cdc_ndm module.
I also installed modem-manager-gui and unlocked my sim by using mmcli. But still NetworkManager can't establish

streaming to broadband and modem users and an intro file
Hello,
I've got an icecast2 server set up. I'm streaming to it with winamp
and the edcast plugin my thanks to everyone who helped me get that
going. An aside is it possible to use a compressor plugin like
audiostocker on an outbound stream going through edcast? I've googled
that this is possible with winamp and shoutcast servers but not seeing
how to run two dsp plugins to an icecast

Shorewall + Broadband + Dial-Backup
I''ve built a custom system based on Debian Sarge and shorewall 2.0.8
functioning as gateway for my local network. Everything is working
perfectly, but my primary Internet uplink (Cable Broadband) is a bit
flakey lately, which is why I''d like to add my ISDN card for failover
dial-backup, should my primary link go down.
Maybe someone could outline the caveats of such a setup or

Application to test STUN + broadband?
Hello
I was wondering if someone knew of an application that could check
that the user has a firewall and a broadband connection that will work
OK with Asterisk and VoIP.
The app would first perform some bandwith + jitter tests, and will
then call a STUN server to check that the firewall isn't symetric.
BTW, is Asterisk now STUN-capable, or is it still to map ports
manually on the firewall

Bob,
Have you looked at any of the products by Zyxel? With QOS, VPN & wireless
support they have:
For ADSL: Prestige 652HW
Firewall/Router: Zywall 10W & 30W
I'll be honest, I havn't used any of these yet. We were looking for similar
products to suuport our VOIP installs. We just ordered some demo units from
Zyxel, we shoul have them later this week. I'll let you know

Multi-ISP :- Multi-Wan Broadband Router Appliance VS Multiple eth Linux routing
Hi all
I need to use three 512 kbps aDSL internet connections, in a load-sharing,
link-failover scenario. Presently I am using Ipcop with a single DSL. Now, I
seem to have two options...one..an Edimax quad wan port adsl router, with
firewalling and NAT and second install a minimal linux distro for
routing...something on the lines of LARTC....and keep NATTING, IDS &
Firewalling on the linux

USB / MiFi Mobile broadband devices and CentOS 5 (32-bit)
Has anyone had any experience with the NetZero Stick? The NetZero site
says that it is 'Linux' compatible, but gives no detailed information (eg
distributations, kernel version, driver name/version, etc.).
I am running a stock CentOS 5.11 kernel (2.6.18-398.el5) on my 32-bit laptop
(IBM Thinkpad X31, with a non-PAE processor, so upgrading to CentOS 6 is not
an option, and no, I
