Dear helpers, I would like to install R on a computer with Ubuntu Jaunty. Unfortunately, Jaunty does not appear in any CRAN mirror website I have tried (France, Canada, Italy, Germany). RE: [spam] Re: Xen on Jaunty
Tne answer is NO. Any vanilla kernel (> 2.6.27) itself allows only to enable PV Guest (paravirtual) mode, but not Xen Dom0 Support. Mainline Linux doesn''t  contain Xen Dom0 Support merged. You have to work on it on your own.   I''ve sent you two links in the very first message. View second one - patching 2.6.30.1 via Andrew''s Lyon rebase patch set :-

Word 2007 slow on jaunty
Hello I've a problem with word 2007 in wine and jaunty. I've been using it in intrepid since 1.1.13 version that makes it work ok! Now It's near to perfection in intrepid with this last version (1.1.19) in my eeepc, but in my desktop (more powerfull than the eee obviously!) with jaunty it is really really slow (unusable) when you edit/write formulas and and insert shapes. Is there

Audio problems in karmic-9.10
I am running wine 1.1.29 in kubuntu karmic-9.10 64-bit, and I am having a problem with audio in wine -- namely, there is none. The problem seems to be that in jaunty, there are several files installed in /usr/lib32/alsa-lib that are needed to support audio in wine, as part of the ia32-libs package. In karmic, those files are not present in the package -- there are only a couple of bluetooth

Ubuntu Jaunty samba 3.3.2 print$ no write rights even though I do; -)
Initially when I posted my access problems to print$ I was using the new registry based smb.conf I had my whole configuration in the registry. Now I move my printers and print$ back to the text based smb.conf and I copied the standard ubuntu debian [printers] and [print$] out of the original ubuntu package smb.conf and the only modification that I made was under the [print$] I change read only to

progress of sound update -- REVISED
Change -- The program I test with is Dragon NaturallySpeaking. Yesterday's Ubuntu updates produced a rash of pulseaudio changes, and suddenly alsa works with wine, without stumbling. Today's secret to making it work: In System/Preferences/Startup applications, uncheck pulseaudio sudo apt-get install esound sudo nano /etc/pulse/client.conf autospawn = no Then every time your computer

Microphone Problems
I'm having some problems configuring my microphone to work in Wine. It is a standard analog (not usb) microphone. I'm running Ubuntu 9.04, Wine 1.1.38, and using the ALSA drivers in winecfg. Although Wine detects my microphone, depending on how I set-up the mixers in ALSAmixer, Windows programs in Wine only pick up static or nothing at all. For example, Rosetta Stone 3.4.5, although able

WoW crashes my microphone.
Hey folks, Running TeamSpeak while playing WoW, I'm having trouble keeping my microphone going for any length of time. It will work fine for a while, but then suddenly stop working altogether until I force-reload ALSA. The microphone is no longer listed as being available. As far as I can tell, this only happens with games in Wine, but I've only really tested it with WoW. Any idea

alsa-utils missing asoundconf in Karmic
Asoundconf has been my preferred method of changing my default card, to use wine outside pulseaudio. However, Asoundconf has been removed in karmic, in anticipation of the new GNOME volume control + pulse configuration. Now, if we need asoundconf, we must download alsa-utils from jaunty, and extract asoundconf from that. For further info see this bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/376024
