Opera proposed Theora for native video playback in browsers
Hi ,
I see this news in Opera website :
http://my.opera.com/haavard/blog/2007/03/05/1
I think this is a good news for Theora Team and also a greater news if video
tag becomes true.
This extract of the website is incredible :
'One thing to keep in mind that adding native support for Theora in Opera
would only add about 300K to Opera's overall size! And I am sure that could

skype and SIP hardware for linux
I'm looking at the <http://support.a-link.com/phonemate/IPU1.htm> phone
because it works with Skype (from Linux), but can do SIP, too.
Not necessarily asterisk related, but possibly. My networking situation
might require IAX if I'm running Linux and want to use SIP, I'm not
certain (Skype works fine). Putting that unknown aside for the moment, how
does this phone work under

That is interesting news. I always go on about mpeg4 and h264 as if
they are the ideal, wheras in an ideal world something like ogg theora

Opera browser on CentOS
Is anyone running the Opera browser on Centos 7 or 6? While not available in a yum-repository, it seems to be available as a snap-package. Not familiar with those yet but curious if the browser is worthwhile to run. I have generally found Firefox less useful/compatible than Chromium but would also like alternatives, particularly since Opera defaults to a VPN-connection.

Help with Gizmo from outside firewall
I've beaten myself bloody dealing with this one... No luck so far. In
summary, incoming calls from Gizmo establish, but neither get nor send
sound. Outbound calls to Gizmo work fine (well a bit choppy but work)
My thought is that the SIP connection is being made fine, but the RTP
is getting stopped / blocked / misdone somewhere.

why user nobody
Hello,
today i deleted the user "nobody" (entry
"nobody:x:99:99:Nobody:/:/sbin/nologin" in /etc/passwd) on my samba-server.
As result, no user could log in to domain anymore.
Does anybody know, what the user "nobody" plays for a role in samba?

isdn configuration
Hi,
I have installed Asterisk with sip clients and an ISDN card from Billion.
From an ISDN phone I can dial the Asterisk and hear the welcome message,
hear the echo test etc.
I want to use Asterisk as a gateway between PSTN and SIP so that callers
to my ISDN will be transferred to my fwd account and/or the SIP clients
connected to Asterisk.
I assume my modem.conf is configured

Gizmo project answers every call - can I use it in hunt group?
Hi,
I've set up a Gizmo Project account for access on my Nokia E61 because
they work through NAT. Trouble is If I include my gizmo account in an
asterisk hunt group and I'm not connected (phone is off / outside
wireless coverage) the gizmo project always answers. Either the call
goes to voice mail or if I turn voicemail off the call gets answered
by a recording saying I'm not
