GNOME menu entries for wine run games
I have been trying to add a launcher to the gnome menu for some of my wine games, but I have found that when I add them to the menu the games complain about missing files, I assume because it is looking for the rest of the game files in the directory that the launcher is in. This doesn't happen when I run the same command within the games directory they work fine.
I used to have this problem

Running two versions of wine?
Is it possible to run two versions of wine on the same machine?
As the latest development version (1.1.22) runs Sam & Max Season One and Myst Masterpiece Edition perfectly but doesn't run realMYST.
But the stable version of wine that comes with Ubuntu 9.04 (1.0.1) can run realMYST and Myst Masterpiece Edition perfectly but won't run Sam & Max Season One.
I was hoping there was a

What I have found was:

My steps so far:
- Installed Wine with Synaptic

Registry key name for Myst
In the (excellent) Wine apps database, at http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=143, the instructions say to create a registry key, HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/AppDefaults/Myst.exe, and under it, to

However, it doesn't say what name to give the key. I created one, and called it

multiple wine versions
Hello I managed to install a version of wine in ubuntu using:
sudo apt-get install wine
which gave me version 1.2.2
This version has been working pretty good with World of Warcraft but according to the AppDB version 1.3.6 is much better ('platinum') for Counter-strike: Source. So I d/led the source and installed it in /home/myname/.wine-1.3.6 but i'm not sure i understand PREFIX

Winecfg not doing anything
I am using Ubuntu Dapper.
I'm trying to set up wine. I'm reading all these guides and they say
to run winecfg in the Terminal and then click on this or that tab.
Now, when I run winecfg in the terminal, this is the output:
wine: creating configuration directory '/home/daniel/.wine'... (daniel
is my username)
It doesn't go back so that you can type in a new command but I can

Myst - config [x11drv] section documentation anywhere?
Hi,
I'm attempting to bring up Myst but running into some issues that
are presumably graphics related. I had thought that I'd read the
manual before I started asking questions here but found that the Wine
Configuration File page is inconveniently missing the [x11drv]
section. Is there anything written but happens to be elsewhere that I
might read?
The question I'm trying to

Wine Unbearably Slow
After using Wine without any significant hitches for over a year, I've just come across one. Every time I load any application (even winecfg), it takes between thirty seconds to one minute for it to load. During this time, normal functions take forever or don't work at all (selecting folders, opening a file, etc.). Sometimes it will load and work just fine, but often the program continues

Easily changing directory where program files should be installed to by default?
Dear Wine users,
installing a Windows program the program?s installer should look up some
registry entry(?) (ProgramFiles [2]) what folder to use to install the
program files into. For Englisch installations this is normally `C:
\Program Files` in my home directory.
I have small space left in my home directory, so I would like to install
the program files in a different location, for example

how to overwrite DLLs?
Moin,
I can define the load order for specific applications using winecfg. But what
is the propper way to copy these DLLs from a 'real' windows box? Just
owerwrite the wine-ddl in windows/system32/ ? But isn't this the 'build in'
DLL, that should be used for applications with load order 'Build in'?
Sorry I am confused.

Special Place for Wine's Programs?
Is there a special place for the programs that actually come with Wine (winefile, winecfg, Wine's notepad, Wine IE, etc.) like the AppDB, but just for them?
Because I was wondering, say for example, someone found a bug in winefile. Where would the corresponding AppDB[oid] page be for winefile to attach that bug to? It would be nice to go to a page and see all the known bugs for such a
