LSI MegaRAID system status
Dear list,
I have inherited a CentOS-5 box with a LSI Sata Raid controller.
It is configured as a RAID5 w/hot-standby. My concern is that
I have no present means of determining the RAID status w/o
downing the system and going into the bios to get status. If
a disk has failed and brought the standby disk online, I would
like to know about it, the day it happens by seeing it in syslog
or getting

User friendly vacation service
Dear Dovecot list,
I maintain a few small sendmail/dovecot/procmail based
mail servers with system users only (no virtual domains
or virtual users) on OpenBSD.
I have been able to get a vacation system working with
both with the native vacation program from OpenBSD and
with procmail. I've been looking into dovecot sieve,
but it doesn't appear to solve the bigger user complaint
which is,

fixed point speex encoder targeted to embedded devices
Hi!
I have heavily lobotomized libspeex, resulting in a fixed point
encoder for 8khz sampling rate and 32 bit signals.

Reading the index / log files
Dear Dovecot,
I have a user who claims his mail is being lost.
I can find the message marked as having been accepted
for delivery in the maillog. I am hoping there is
a tool which will let me read his IMAP transactions.
We are delivering the messages with procmail and
storing them as Maildir files.
I read mail on this very same server and process
about 500 mails per day. (Its the machine where

Lower case flag characters ??
I know the purpose of the "standard" Maildir flags "FSRT, ..."
but some of the files have lower case flag characters as
well. What is the meaning of these lower case flags?
Google and the Dovecot-Wiki have failed me. Can some
kind soul point me to a document, Please.

OT: DHCP address pool for specific MAC manufacturer
Dear CentOS,
This is somewhat off-topic, but I do hope to implement this on
a CentOS system, so here goes...
I would like to be able to setup a dhcpd (or like) daemon to
maintain two IP address pools. One for devices whose leading
three octets of the client MAC address are specified and the
other for all other clients. Both pools would be a defined
range on a commmon /24 subnet. There a

Dovecot development status v1.0
Timo,
Regarding:
http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2005-January/006144.html
I would like an estimate of where you are on the path to a
released (dovecot-1.0). I have read your statement regarding
the -stable series and am wondering when we see the first
feature complete -beta of v1.0?
Thank for your hard efforts. I have been a happy customer
for about a year.

creating partitions on a 2.7TB drive
Hello, sorry for the long email, it's a little hard to explain this issue. The gist of it is that the Ubuntu version of parted allowed me to do something which perhaps should not be allowed i.e. creating partitions on a 2.7TB drive when the partition table is not *gpt* but *msdos*.
I am trying to configure 2 identical servers, both are Dell Poweredge 2970 machines with 6 disks in them

R v2.13.2 - Cannot find Rcmd on path?
Hello,
I recently updated to R version 2.13.2. With R version 2.10.0, I often
created and installed R packages, however, I cannot do this since updating.
In other words, when I type in Rcmd build -binary PACKAGENAME I receive an
error message: "Rcmd is not recognized as an internal...". I suspect that
this is because Rcmd.exe is no longer installed in the bin folder, but
rather, in

Given that we've had several major patches of late, is there any chance
that pre15 could get released within the next couple of days?
Thanks,

Yum Issues with Dev groups
Just my luck,
None of my CentOS systems or my Fedora systems can #yum groupinstall "Development Tools" "Development Libraries"?
Both are having dep issues? Is that a coincidence, or what's going on?
The CentOS boxes all complain:
--> Processing Dependency: glibc-common = 2.5-18.el5_1.1 for package: glibc

without msdos filesystem
If 'msdos' filesystem is not compiled in Kernel (and I don't have the
msdos.ko module neither), then syslinux refuses to work.
Is it possible to fix syslinux to try more filesystems, not only msdos?
Or is it possible to call the mount command somehow without filesystem
option at all, so the kernel (or whatever) will decide itself what
filesystem to use?
Thank you for

MSDOS on my network
Hello,
I am looking for the first time at setting up Linux with Samba as a primary
server on our network. I would like to replace my SCO Unix system and a
Windows box I use to serve MSDOS machines. The MSDOS server seems to be the
stumbling block at this point in my research. I can only run netbEUI on
them as far as I know and Samba seems to only talk on TCP/IP. Do you know
of a solution?

Large Floppy Images
I have periodically been trying to get memdisk to boot images
larger than your average 1.44Mb floppy and have always been
unsuccessful. I cannot boot anything greater than 1.44Mb. The systems
I'm attempting to do this with are not too old but they are not recent
either. One is a Asus P5A and the other is a Intel SE440BX both with
the most recent bios firmware patches available applied. If

How To Recover From Creating >2TB ext3 Filesystem on MSDOS Partition Table?
(I've already sent this message to Ted Ts'o directly. I should
have sent it to this list first but I didn't know about it
until today. My apologies to Ted.)
Last Friday a system that I just inherited refused to mount
a file system that had been working fine for about 6 months.
This is on a Scientific Linux 4.3 system using a 2.6.9
kernel. This is another Linux distribution based on
