file sizes different even after successful rsync
Is it even remotely possible that after a successful rsync, the file sizes on both ends are different ???
We use rsync extensively to distribute our builds across all our development sites. Here is how our rsync process works
1. SiteA creates a build #1
2. SiteB rsync's build #1
3. SiteA creates a build #2
4. SiteB rsync's build #2 using contents of build #01 (i.e. we rsync build #02

[LLVMdev] GVNPRE removed from main line?
It seems the GVNPRE pass has been removed from the main trunk, though
it is present in the 2.6 release. From the llvm-commits archive, I
found that it was removedĀ with this checkin:
http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/pipermail/llvm-commits/Week-of-Mon-20090928/088214.html
"remove the GVNPRE pass. It has been subsumed by the GVN pass."
Does the GVN pass optimize all the partial redundancies

Samba, the GPL and SCO
For those of you following the IBM vs SCO legal case, you have probably
noticed that SCO has said that the GPL is invalid. IBM appears to make
the reasonable case that you can't say something is void, and then rely
on it. INAL, but why is SCO allowed to distribute Samba without agreeing
to the GPL? That's like buying a car, then claiming the sale agreement
is bogus but you still want

Handshake exception in Rserve [Broadcast]
We had something similar, and as far as I recall the problem turned out to
be that we had not set the config file to allow remote connections.
This would probably be better put on the Rosuda mailing list:
http://mailman.rz.uni-augsburg.de/mailman/listinfo/stats-rosuda-devel
Hope this helps,
Matt Wiener

vsifax on Centos 5.1
All....
I am trying to install vsifax on a 64 bit Centos 5.1 system. The Esker
staff have been helpful but no cigar.
At first they thought the problem might be related to a 64 bit machine
so I tried to install vsifax on a 32 bit Centos 5.1 machine and received
the same error.
One of their installation scripts is trying to execute a binary called
eula which fails.
./eula: cannot execute

Does Huawei break the license of CentOS?
Hello, Peter, thanks for your reply
1. Huawei DOES change the distribution EULA, if type in the following command:
vi /usr/share/eula/eula.en_US
you can see it changed to "HUAWEI EulerOS-2.0"
which is a copyright one, let alone original GPL license.
According to CentOS Linux EULA
The Distribution is released as GPLv2. Individual packages in the
distribution come with their own

Centos 7 License???
Today I did a yum upgrade to my kvm'ized Centos 7 test machine
(perhaps a bad day to do such a thing) and received new kernel
vmlinuz-3.10.0-229.1.2.el7.x86_64, among many other things.
When I rebooted, I was asked to confirm (or renew, or some such)
my license. My LICENSE ???
I was booting in text mode and the actions required were
a) unfamiliar, and b) hard to understand.
As I recall, I

'make check' failures can cause this. I had to revert r241599 to get a package.

Updated Grandstream configurator
The most recent version of GSConfigure is available at
www.buffalo.edu/~sbesch Several serious bugs that kept the program from
getting started have been ferreted out and corrected with the help of
Bruce Komito. The program is now actually running on someone's machine
other than mine. I have built this version with the oldest copies of the
system dll's that I could find inn an effort

Using Centos
We need to resell systems that run commercial software on Linux. We were
using Red Hat ES 3 originally.
But we later realize that we cannot redistribute RHES without paying
them huge subscription fee because of the trademark.
I came across CentOS from WBEL mailing list. This looks like a godsend
to me. I have some questions regarding CentOS.
I would appreciate it if someone can provide me the

converted VMDK disk iamge and Virtio driver
I have a CentOS 5 VM in vmware I wanted to move to work on KVM/libvirt. I used
qemu-img to convert it to a qcow2 image, loaded virt-manager and created a new
VM pointed at that qcow2 image. The boot paniced when it tried to mount
the root filesystem also complaining about not being able to remount the
swap partition.
I played around and was able to get it to boot by changing the Virtual disk

ACPI, Vista and Xen
Hi all,
I''m running XP and 2003 Server fine as HVM guests
(under a 32 bit non-pae Xen 3.0.3 self-compiled).
I''ve read that Vista can *not* be /installed/ under
Xen for it checks for ACPI support and install fails
if it isn''t present.
What if I do the install first from, say, plain Qemu
(I''re reused qemu images from Xen) or VMWare (I''ve

libvirt/virsh change boot order
Hello, hope all are well.
Am I missing something?
If I add a cdrom and change boot order in a running vm with virsh edit, I have to shutdown the vm and restart to see the change in boot order. I can not just restart the vm via reboot inside the vm or virsh reboot vm. I don't see anything under /var/lib/libvirt/qemu/saved where I might expect conflict if I was battling against a saved

Annoying license at install

I'm also not entirely sure which bit is causing you the bother, so I'm not
sure what to advise.
I install with kickstart with:
eula --agreed
firstboot --disable
I create /etc/gdm/custom.conf in %post:
[daemon]
InitialSetupEnable=False
I think that's my lot.
