RH9 to centos 5 386
I am testing the likelyhood of updating a couple RH9 systems to centos 5
386.
I found at document that talked about updating to centos 4. steps being:
1.) backup
2.)
rpm --import

rpm -Uvh --nodeps

Building a UML image of CentOS 4.4
I'm wondering what the best way of building a UML image is; I tried the
following based on documents I found on the web for FC2

$T/var/lock/rpm $T/var/cache/yum/update/headers \

R (statistics package) on CentOS-5 ?
Dear all,
the statistics package R (www.r-project.org) was available for CentOS-4, but I
need it for CentOS-5 (64bit). RPMforge has R-2.5.1 for CentOS-4, so I thought
I'd try to install that on CentOS-5.
However, yum complains about missing ggv, and the specfile indeed says that R
requires ggv, which is not in CentOS-5 (it has kghostview).
I could probably install with "rpm -Uvh

./bin/update-packageinfo 2.2.6pre 20020730
I receive the error: no such file or directory
next I changed to the RedHat dir. and executed sh makerpms.sh...this
appeared to work fine.
i could not execute rpm -Uvh samba-2.2.6pre-20020730.i386.rpm
what I did execute is: rpm -Uvh samba-2.2.5-1i386.rpm and received

Building source rpms does not build all the rpms.
I just downloaded the 2.2.4-2 src.rpm file from samba.org and installed and
compiled on my intel-redhat 7.2 system.
When I changed to /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386 I found only
i386/samba-2.2.4-2.i386.rpm in it.
There was no other rpms, even though the spec file says there will be.
Here's the last few lines of the build output, I only see two rpms being
created.

FYI: solution Re: mock %post(pam) failure
Farkas' solution is exactly right. I have been banging my head against
this problem for a while now and it wasn't until I finally paced myself
and read carefully through the entire thread that I found this solution.
Here is the procedure spelled out a bit more precisely.
Get the CentOS 5.2 rpms of popt, rpm, rpm-libs, rpm-python and
rpm-build. Obviously you can use most any mirror and

RPM conflicts - help!
I'm building a database/application server with a Dual-Opteron 64 bit system.
I need to run PHP4, Apache, and Postgres 8.1, but I'm having conflicts with
Postgres 8.1 and PHP 4 that comes with CentOS.
History:
1) I installed Apache and PHP with yum.
2) I then installed PostgreSQL 8.1 RPMs from the PG website.
3) Then, I tried to install php-pgsql with yum - and it didn't work,

Wine path-association
hello.
I am trying to install an exe-file in the Program-Path of an individual Wine-Prefix. This exe-file reads an Inifile, which is in the same Directory.
When I use Winefile to open the .exe, the inifile is read correctly.
When I use it in a .desktop file with the order below, it does not work.
Code:
env WINEPREFIX "/opt/WPrefix" wine "C:\Program Files\Test\test.exe"

How to verify all dependencies are being met
I've taken over a CentOS machine. The previous SA had a habit of using
the --nodeps flag to rpm to remove packages (he was trying to build a
small server and removed packages he felt weren't needed). I have a
horrible feeling that this has resulted in some required dependencies
no longer being met. The server kinda-works, but it may break in
unexpected ways; I don't like being
