"...winedevice.exe has encountered a serious problem..."
Since updating Wine today (wine-1.1.20), I am getting this error each time it starts: > Program Error > The program winedevice.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. > I haven't noticed anything not working so far.

Questions about setup
I have worked in IT for several years and programming or anything related to this is not exactly one of my strengths. I need help creating a vesamenu.. Im trying to setup up so I can access my Acronis backup and disaster recovery 10 server, knoppix live cd, hardware diagnostics - pcdoctor and maybe a hiren type boot cd. I checked the Linux irc channel which I guess is now abandoned. If anyone

Unable to rename Macromedia icons using kde menu editor
I'm unable to edit the file names for about three Macromedia programs using the kde menu editor. When using the editor it says the program titles have been renamed but once I leave the editor the name is unedited again. I also can't change the icons for these programs.

win32-mmap test suite
I just tried running tc_mmap.rb and noticed that something rather curious seems to happen. The call to Mmap.new in setup seems to cause the test suite to just exit without ever actually running the tests. I reduced the test suite to just this bit of code. This works, although the final test (TypeError) does not pass - no exception in thrown. This is 1.8.1 on Win2k. Any ideas? Dan PS - I

winedevice.exe
Hi! I was just wondering what this winedevice.exe actually does. I usually have uTorrent running in Wine all day, and sometimes winedevice.exe starts to use the full CPU. But if I just kill it, everything continues to work just fine... [Question] Toa-Nuva

How can wine be available for all users?
I'm using kubuntu 8.04 and I'm able to run three programs that I installed but another user can't. Is there any way to make .wine available for all users? I thought about copying .wine to wine in /usr/lib/wine or /usr/bin/wine.

"err:winedevice:ServiceMain driver L"MountMgr" failed to load"
Whenever I start an application using Wine, it takes very long until something happens. In addition, the line "err:winedevice:ServiceMain driver L"MountMgr" failed to load" is printed on the terminal. I also have very little luck using Wine, even Applications marked as silver or higher in the AppDB seldom work, I think it's related. Is there any way to fix it?

Can you remove / rename ~/.wine directory and try again?

I don't get it: if an app crashes, I'm used to debug it from shell. Users can do as they did till 1.1.20. I think no one has asked for a buggy feature. austin987 wrote: > You can use: > $

Re: How to deal with the message: winedevice.exe has encountered
I guess I'm late to the party. I'm getting this error on just about every program I run under Wine since I updated to 1.1.20. Even the Wine Configuration tool makes this error show up first. What is happening here? I had 4 files in my ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/drivers directory. mountmgr.sys MrtRate.sys PxHelp20.sys pxhelper.sys If I move all of them out, the error popup stops

anova.coxph for multiple events model
Hi, I'm trying to do a multiple events model using coxph. I need to choose which covariates stay in the final model and i'm using anova but it seems that it doesn't work with robust variances as a error message appears when I try to do it: /PWPfit<-coxph(Surv(ini,fim,status)~Sexo+Transmissao+Regime+HAART+Drogas+Psi+ + CD4+CV+Neo+IO+cluster(idPARTICIPANTE)+strata(Estrato),data=PWP)

Install on Solaris 5.9
I'm trying to install R-1.6.2 on a Sparc machine running Solaris 5.9. I download and unpack R, run ./Configure from the R directory. Configure fails. The last line on the Configure script prints is 'Checking for Fortran 77 name-mangling scheme', This output and the config.log files are available at: http://www.phineas.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/config.log and

Sorry
On my previous message I gave incorrect URL's for the configuration output. They should be www.phineas.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/config.log and www.phineas.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/config.out Also this technique appears to work with Netscape on Solaris, but not IE on Windows. If this is not a sensible way to post diagnostic output let me know and I will post them in a different way. Phineas Campbell

Ordering categories on a boxplot - a serious trap??
Hello all, I think I probably did something stupid, and R's part was to allow me to do it. My goal was to control the order of factor levels appearing horizontally on a boxplot. Enter search engines and perhaps some creative stupidity on my part, and I came up with the following: v=read.table("factor-order.txt",header=TRUE); levels(v$doseGroup) = c("L", "M",

How do I debug a VB application install?
I'm trying to debug the installation of a Windows app written in VB (I think VB6). Following the troubleshooting guide here, and referencing the app's own install log, I realized some necessary DLLs were missing. Installed them using winetricks mfc42 vb6run mdac28. I checked a working installation on Windows XP for list of installed MDAC components, and I think I've got all the
