similar to: Getting programs to detect my soundcard

Greetings- I've got a curious project that I could use some input on. I'd like to use Asterisk to record some audio channels via USB 'soundcard'. When audio passes through the soundcard, Asterisk should grab that audio channel (CONSOLE?), and write it to a wav file. I'm perfectly competent with the dialplan portion of the recording, but I don't know about the following:

I have a USB soundcard that I have tried to run with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. It doesn't work unless I set winecfg to oss instead of alsa. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? How do I get alsa over USB? Thanks, Susan Cragin

Moin, I am using a kind of VoIP Software (Echolink) that run perfekt with the build in soundcard. But I want to use my headset, that appears as soundcard 1 (hw:1.0). So I used to use the winepulse patch for wine. (Yes I like pulse). But since 1.3.25+ uses mmdevapi for audio, that patch no longer works. That author points to a wine multimedia git, however, after installing that I have no more sound in any wine application, and the winecfg test audio says audio failed.
