Force a static HWaddr to tinc interface
Hi, I have been working with tinc network where one host will provide the IP addresses over DHCP to each connected node. Tinc runs in switch mode. It seems that the HWaddr of the tinc interface is regenerated every time when tinc is (re)started. As a result, DHCP server will assign a new IP for the host. Is there any configuration variable we could use to avoid HWaddr changing? Currently, I

Bond & Team: RX dropped packets
Hi all, we are testing CentOS 7 in order to migrate from Scientific Linux 6 / CentOS 6 and we are facing an issue with the network. Trying to configure network with teaming in activebackup mode or also with bonding in mode=1 (active backup as well) we see many RX dropped packets in the bond0 interface (around 10% of the total), 100% RX drops in the backup interface and 0% in the active interface.

Metadata socket and net2str() error
Hello there, I was hoping that maybe one of you guys could help me out with a problem I'm experiencing with tinc1.0pre7. First, I'll start with my configuration, after that I'll explain my problem. Background ---------- This is a simple, client-server situation on a private network. Both machines run the same Debian Woody 3.0 testing installation and both have identical packages

Connection problems
I have been having some problems setting up tinc on 2 masquerading linux slackware boxes. routerA is a NAT router to the internet, for two networks on two interfaces. This are the two networks: eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:E0:4C:6C:6D:86 inet addr:192.168.0.1 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX

so many arp caches why?
Hello, all. When I execute arp -a -n, there are lots of arp caches like below. Surely, I set netmask and Broadcast without problem and routing table also no problem. System is CentOS release 4.7 i386. I know how to delete the arp cache, but I don't know why .. # ifconfig eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:A0:D1:E7:91:CC inet addr:192.168.195.36

Ethernet card addr <-> IP
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hi everyone - Someone I''m working with has a requirement to map ethernet card addresses to unique IP addresses, and then have a Linux IP masquerade server know of this mapping list and not allow any data to pass from any ethernet card that a) it doesn''t know about, or b) isn''t assigned the right IP. Ideally it would also log this

clone MAC address
Hi, I have a mini router that have this feature, "clone MAC address" My ISP doesn''t allow me to connect more than one computer. But, with the "clone MAC address" of the mini router, I can connect up to 5 computers, and my ISP can''t notice that. What do I need to do this "clonning" with my linux box? Thanks, Nico

Dom0 cache-ing MAC addresses?
I created a DomU with a dedicated network connection script path=''/usr/lib/xen/scripts/vif-dedicated'' Having run the virtual machine I now destroy the domain, undefine it, change the script to script path=''/usr/lib/xen/scripts/vif-vnic'' define the domain and try to start it. This fails. If I change the assigned MAC address the newly defined virtual

Seeing the IP addresses of domUs from dom0
Using a default xen3.0.1 setup for dom0(rhel4 distro) and domUs (gentoo, rhel4, centos4.2 distros, ttylinux) with the domUs all having dhcp turned on, is there an easy way to tell from within the dom0 what ip addresses were assigned to the domUs after bootup? book on tinc
Hi Ivo and Guus, We are writing a book on building VPNs for Linux and a part of it describes tinc. I wanted to make sure that your opinion, as tinc authors and developers, is reflected. First, let me ask a couple of technical questions. 1. If there are two hosts, foo and bar, that are to be connected via tinc, and each host should only have _one_ IP address (i.e. nmask is /32), would the

tap1 problem
Hi Tinc Mailing-Group, Having set up the kernel correctly, and got tinc running successfully, I am now trying to get two VPNs running at once. Hence I need to have two ethertap devices ( /dev/tap0 and /dev/tap1 ). The first tap0 device was created thus: mknod -m 600 /dev/tap0 c 36 16 chown 0.0 /dev/tap0 The second tap1 device was created too: mknod -m 600 /dev/tap1 c 36 17 chown 0.0 /dev/tap1

Tinc config problem
I fairly new to Linux, and I'm trying to set up Tinc on my Linux box. However I got stuck at the following point in the documentation: ".... The actual setup of the ethertap device is quite simple, just repeat after me: ifconfig tap_n_ hw ether fe:fd:00:00:00:00 ... ". Now, this is obviously not what I have to type to the command prompt, although, I'm not ashamed to say,

Bridging on the blink with greater than 2 xen domains
Hi, My bridging stops when I start a third Xen domain !?!? I have a few domains setup (mail, wiki, pbx). If I start two domains bridge networking works great. But if I start a third, either the new domains does not work or one of the other DomUs stops working! By stop working I mean I can''t route traffic outside of Dom0. I have been looking at this on and off for a couple of weeks.
