saving graphics in jpeg format
Dear R users, I need to save a graph in jpeg format. After plotting the graph, when the graphics window is active, in the File menu, the Save as / Jpeg / 100% quality correctly saves the graph in jpeg format. But I would like to know, how could I control the resolution (in dpi) of the saved jpeg file? I need to produce a jpeg at 1200 dpi. I have tried also the jpeg function in the package

Saving plot to tiff, with high resolution for publication ?
Hello all. A Journal we are sending an article to is asking for the following: To ensure the best reproduction quality of your figures we would appreciate high resolution files. All figures should preferably be in TIFF or EPS format... and should have the following resolution: Graph: 800 - 1200 DPI Photo: 400 - 800 DPI Color (only CMYK): 300 - 400 DPI (DPI = dots per inch) Since I am sending

Determining the resolution of a screen device
Dear all, I am trying to find a way to reliably and programmatically establish the resolution (i.e. DPI or equivalent) of an on-screen device. It seemed to me that dev.new(width=1, height=1) dpi <- dev.size("px") would do the trick, but the result does not seem to be correct, at least on OS X 10.9.1 using the "quartz" device. Specifically, the window that appears is 1

Q about dpi, fonts, gnome, Xorg etc
This has been puzzling me for some time and despite bothering Auntie Google rather a lot, I've yet to find a satisfying answer. As an old-time (since 1981) unix and X guy, I've generally been fairly well-able to get fonts to behave in a rational manner. My needs are pretty simple - I just want 8-point (or 9-point etc) fonts to appear on the screen as 8-point font - ie more or less 8 *

resolution (dpi) problem
I am using R 2.4.1 with Windows XP. I use the plot command in a fairly simple script and I use the right mouse click on the plot and save as a postscript file. I used the resultant file in a paper which was submitted electronically. However, I get the following response from the journal: Your manuscript has been unsubmitted because you failed to meet the submission guidelines as indicated

DPI slider
Hello there, I installed Championship Manager 01/02 using the brilliant Wine on my Ubuntu 10.04.1 system. It installed fine, but when I was in the game the mouse wasn't visible at all. I thought it may have been a graphics issue so started fiddling with the graphics settings in the wine configuration menu. As part of this experimentation I moved the dpi slider right up to maximum and applied

adjust font in ggplot2 to LaTeX document
Hi, how can i adjust the font in a ggplot2 qplot so that it will look similar to the LaTeX font? Computer Modern Sans Serif in the same size would be nice. My output device is ggsave(filename="test.pdf", width=5.5, height=3, dpi=300) and i will include the graphic with 5.5 inch in LaTeX. I found some pages about that topic but all solutions that i found have been very complicate

quartz() and dpi
Hello all, I am using quartz (on OS X obviously) to produce PDFs and PNGs from my plots, for later inclusion in LaTeX. I am typically using something like: plot(0) dev.print(quartz, file="foo.pdf", width=5, height=3) dev.print(quartz, file="foo.png", width=5, height=3, dpi=72) I want the sizes of the PDF and PNG to be *equal* in *inches*, which works with dpi=72. However,

problem with small fonts
I just downloaded wine-20050725 and compiled it myself under slackware 10.0. I am not a regular user of wine, but I like to check on it every year or so to see how it is coming along. I am having a problem with small fonts in wine. Sometimes the fonts are just right, and sometimes they are way too small. I can always fix the problem by deleting ~/.wine, forcing wine to create a fresh default

High resolution figures for a paper?
Dear Rusers, My manuscript has been conditionally accepted recently. The problem to generate the high resolution figures in R for the manuscript cannot be solved by me. The journal editor ask me to generate the figures with a minimum resolution of 500 dpi. I have tried the *menu-driven method* to save the figures as JPEG (100% printed quality), but the results seem not to be very good. I have

I just want to ask how to enlarge the resolution of my plots in R. For ex. for publising I would like a picture of resolution minimal 500 dpi, all I managed was picture of dim 5,28 X 5,83 with 118 pixels/cm. Thank You for the answer! RE: [R] Graphics-Device-Size vs. Window-Size
Hi Paul, thank you for responding. I indeed overlooked, that units="inch" gives stable results, independent of resizing the graphics window on the screen. And indeed I would find some way fiddling around to get my graphic done. However I see a general problem here and I would like a general solution: Obviously we are dealing with two coordinate systems: the graphics device size (call

Problems with plot and Quartz device (PR#13744)
