A polar.plot BUG in plotrix 1.3.3 ?
Hi, I just updated to R-2.1.1 and updated packages acordingly However, after the update, routines that use polar.plot did not function as correctly. In plotrix 1.3.3 the polar.plot function does scale label.pos to radians prior to calling radial.plot Hence, the command polar.plot(c(5,10,5,0),c(-10,0,10,20),rp.type='P',

symbols hidden in polar.plot
Hi Folks, Here is my attempt at a simple polar plot. > pos <- seq(0,360,by=5) > tspk <- rep(c(1,0,1),c(13,47,13)) > require(plotrix) > polar.plot(tspk,pos,rp.type="s",point.symbols=17,point.col="green4") I only see half the symbols, the other half of each symbol is hidden under the circular grid. In fact if I change rp.type="r", I see the

Numerical integration problem
Hi there I'm trying to construct a model of mortality risk in 2D space that requires numerical integration of a hazard function, for which I'm using the integrate function. I'm occasionally encountering parameter combinations that cause integrate to terminate with error "Error in integrate... the integral is probably divergent", which I'm not sure how to interpret. The

OT: Google Earth - How to uninstall, before installing newest version?
Desktop is CentOS 5.4 (32 bit). I have Google Earth version 4.2.205.5730 (13NOV2007 build date) installed. I have checkinstall (spelling?) installed, but am not sure if that was installed before or after Google Earth was installed. I have the Google Repository installed, but apparently Google Earth cannot be updated via yum and probably it was not installed via yum. Question: What is the best

Colouring a grid segment
Hi, I am attempting to create a polar chart (using plotrix polar.plt) and I need to colour a segment of the grid to indicate an area of interest, say from 90-120 degrees, for arguments sake. Is this possible? I can colour the whole grid by passing the grid.bg parameter through to radial.plot but I cannot find a way to colour a segment. thanks, Darren -- View this message in context:

How do you update winetricks?
I am trying to play Rift. I just did a full install of openSUSE 11.4 (wanted to try something other than ubuntu). I added the WINE repo and installed it. I then installed Rift with the downloader with WINE instead of using my windows install. I used the winetricks that came with WINE and installed d3dx9 and vcrun2008. I launched Rift and patched it, but when I hit play I get a Bright flashing

Transparent Labels for Polar Plot
Hello, I am currently using the polar.plot function in the plotrix package to graph data. Unfortunately, it seems that the default for the labels is to have a background color that is covering the line representing my data, making it difficult to read. Is there a way to make this label background transparent? Example: lengths <- 0:72 bearing <- seq(from=0, to=360, by=5)

polar.plot orientation and scale in plotrix
Hello all- I would like to orient my polar.plot (from package plotrix) so that the circular scale runs clockwise and the origin (ie. 0 degrees) starts at the top of the plot. The defaults of running the scale counter-clockwise and beginning with 90 degrees at the top of the graph seems counter-intuitive to me. I'm using R 2.5.0, and plotrix version 2.2-4. Many thanks, Tim

Polar graph of time and tide
I have been trying to visualize times of lowest tides, month by month. I have tide predictions with times either in unix time or a text format, and heights in feet or meters. I had been able to derive the clock times of each prediction. I would now like to graph this data with points showing heights as "r" and times as "theta", from 0000 to 2355. There is a seasonal

Uninstall Wine Software doesn't work

How to remove dangling menu items
I tried to test Wine for the first time, installing the only application that I already had an executable for, an old version of Seamonkey web browser. It installed ok, but when uninstalled, through wine, had some issues...first the unistall option did not appear in wine, but fixed that. Finally, when uninstalled Seamonkey, it left a second wine menu item in Gnome Applications menu. I have
