Cannot get UNC paths to work correctly
Hi all I wish to run 'Enterprise Architect' from Sparx Systems[1]. The installer runs just fine, and the application installs OK. The main issue is that the license key file is a shared resource - many users can utilise the same license file (legitimately I might add!) at the same time, so the license file is located on a SMB share. The key file itself has encoded into itself what the

NET USE ?
Hi, I'm trying to access a remote fiscal printer under Wine. I'm wondering if it's possible to use the 'net use' command from Windows (but under wine) to map the remote printer or if it's possible to simple mount the remote printer (dunno how as mount.cifs gives no clue about how to mount print shares) under 'dosdevices/unc' anyone ? Thanks in advance. Ricardo

File locking (smb mount)
I have an old database application, which keeps all data in dbf's or something similar. There are multiple clients working simultaneously. They all share common database, which is stored on a Samba server. By now I had only clients working on real Windows (98 and 2000). Everything works perfect. Every instance is properly locking the shared database files, so all clients are able to work at

Drive Mapping Problem & solution
Just got Wine 1.1.13 on Ubuntu 8.10 tried to map D: to my Windows partition /dev/sda5 /media/DATA but Wine wouldn't keep my choice and reverts to /media/cdrom0. Found out that permissions for ~/.wine/dosdevices/d: were root only and couldn't change them. So I deleted d: & d:: and made new symbolic links $ sudo rm -r /home/me/.wine/dosdevices/d* $ ln -s /media/DATA

Drive Designation
I keep reading on this list where drive C: is referred to as "~/.wine/drive_c" but on my system (due to no special smarts on my part that would be "~/.wine/dosdevices/c:" instead. Why this difference? Are the ones who post basing their operation on an older way of doing things? The ability to use "c:" rather than "drive_c" seems nicer IMNSHO. FWIW,

ipconfig related question (do not get static IP setting)
Hi!! I found your ipconfig stuff in the udev rpm in SuSE 9.1. I'm about to setup a initramfs (pretty cool - much better than initrd) to boot linux diskless clients over the net. All the tools I would need, seem to be there with ipconfig/nfsmount ... I like to use the information I get from PXE/syslinux or Etherboot writing something like:

Access to floppy disk drive from wine-installed programs
Can anybody please tell me how to access the floppy disk drive from wine-installed programs? I've installed some basic accounting software which backs-up to floppy (don't laugh!), but when I try to do this I get the message "no removable drives..." even though I've mounted the floppy drive. The CDROM (fake d:) drive is listed in dosdevices, but floppy (fake a: ?) doesn't

[PATCH] kinit/nfsmount.c path from bootp

Is = now the same as <- in assigning values
I?m a PhD student at the University of Warsaw, and have started using R. In many books they specify to use <- instead of = when assigning values, and this is also mentioned in older posts on the R website. However, it seams to me that some update has occured, becuase I continously get the same result wether I use <- or =. I would be extremely helpful for any answer to this. = seams more

Softlinking to a dvd-drive with inconsistent mount points?
In Suse 9.2, it was easy to softlink to a drive from /home/username/.wine/dosdevices because the mount point for the drive was always the same. That is, /media/dvdrecorder was always where the disc would get mounted. NOW, with Suse 9.3, the mount point is /media/DISC_NAME. Since each disk has a different name, there is never a consistent mount point. So, I can't make Wine's

[PATCH] inspect: get windows drive letters for GPT disks.
This patch updates the guestfs_inspect_get_drive_mappings API call to also return drive letters for GPT paritions. Previously this worked only for MBR partitions. This is achieved by matching the GPT partition GUID with the info stored in the blob from HKLM\SYSTEM\MountedDevices\DosDevices keys. For GPT partions this blob contains a "DMIO:ID:" prefix followed by a 16 byte binary GUID.

mode data=journal in ext3. Is it safe to use?
Hello I try again. Can anybody of you acknowledge or not if mode data=journal in ext3 is safe to use in Linux kernel 2.6.x? Wee need to have a very consistent and integrity for our filesystem, and it would then be desired to journal both data and metadata. But if this mode can corrupt the filesystem as both Phil White and Nicolas Kowalski has experienced, it may be more advised to use mode

"static" drive mapping
Hello, I am running the version of Wine that came with Ubuntu 9.04. I would like to have a permanent, or static, drive mapping to a second internal hard drive (/media/disk). I go into the GUI of Wine Configuration to create the mapping, but it is not static. I download larger files to that drive as to not clutter my main hard drive. Ubuntu always mounts the drive upon boot, but no matter what
