v1.1.20 vs v1.2 & v2.0
I am currently running v1.1.20 and was wondering if there is any compelling reason to upgrade to v1.2 or v2.0? For example is there any security updates in v1.2 or v2.0 that aren't included in v1.1.20? The other major thing I would be interested in knowing is there any speed enhancements in the newer versions? I am using basic PAM Auth and Maildir mailboxes on a Linux box. Let me know

Greetings all, I have a OpenBSD /Dovecot server at home running and sending / receiving email "internally" without issue.. Recently, I set up the same at our Parish, but one of our users wants to get their email externally. The user can read their email but has to "send" via the local ISP server.. The problem After much searching I have not found an answer to my question. I

C6.6 Gnome panel problem
Hi all! I usually keep the panels on my Centos 6.6 (Gnome) so they auto-hide, but t'other day I wanted to keep the top panel visible for a while to make the clock visible for doing some rough timings. so I open the top panel, click properties, and UNcheck the "autohide" checkbox, close the properties menu, and to my surprise, the panel still autohides. Went thru that exercise

Gnome Taskbar(s)
Question: All the newer Gnome distributions seem to configure themselves with two small "taskbars" (panels, I guess) one at the top and one at the bottom. I prefer the older scheme with one larger one (usually) at the bottom. When I install Centos5 in the near future I'm going to want to be able to restore the old-style panels. Anybody know what I need to change to make it work

ThinLTO and linkonce_odr + unnamed_addr
There should be no semantic difference between linkonce_odr and weak_odr, except that weak_odr is non-discardable. Why doesn't the autohide optimization work just as well on weak_odr + unnamed_addr as linkonce_odr + unnamed_addr? my number column returns boolean values
Hi everyone, I''m working on a new rails project and have to build it on top of a legacy oracle database. I''m trying to figure out how to get the number value from a NUMBER(1) datatype. So far I''m only getting a "true" value for 1 and "false" for any other number. From the console I can print out my object values and can see that there are number

Runaway nmbd Process - Help!
I am running SuSE V 8 with KDE 3 and had a memory problem when the screen would lose icons, taskbars etc. I am very much a newbie and everything was going along smoothly, even managed to get Cups up and running and printing across the small Lan to a windows printer. The problem is being caused by nmbd starting up in a loop causing dozens of instances to run each with their own PID until such

ThinLTO and linkonce_odr + unnamed_addr
Hi, I recently found that thinLTO doesn't deal with globals that has linkonce_odr and unnamed_addr (for macho at least) because it prohibits the autohide optimization during link time. In LLVM, we tagged a global linkonce_odr and unnamed_addr to indicate to the linker can hide them from symbol table if they were picked (aka, linkonce_odr_auto_hide linkage). It is very commonly used for some

ThinLTO and linkonce_odr + unnamed_addr
That is a good question and I don't know. The optimization is defined include/llvm/Analysis/ObjectUtils.h. If I enable that for weak_odr + unnamed_addr, no tests are failing so I guess it is a safe optimization? :) It is probably because the autohide optimization is targeted at c++ templates and inline functions and we know they have linkonce_odr linkage, which suggests whoever uses this

Acts_as_authenticated
Hello I have been trying a number of security/login generators recently. My favourite so far is the Acts_as_authenticated. I like the fact that it is only billed as a starting point and doesn''t try to do everything. I would like to add security roles to it, so that some of my controller actions can only be used by an admin role. Has anybody implemented this using

Anyone who is experienced with wine and/or CrossOver
I am on a Macbook 4,1 with 4GB ram and X3100 GPU running 10.5.6, VMware Fusion 2.0.2 and CxGames 7.2. I am trying to get Runes of Magic to run, and I think it has something to do with wine. I tried installing and running this game in win2k, winxp, and vista bottles and all yeilded the same result (the pic). I am not running any additional commands to the application (-dx8, -noshaders, etc). I

Wine almost immediately crashes X
Okay, so I've done the requisite searching around, and I'm either missing something unbelievably simple, or something funny is going on here. I'm attempting to run a couple of simple games under Wine 0.9.57 in Gutsy on my new System76 laptop. When I attempt to run either of them, the loading graphic comes up, but the moment they attempt to change to fullscreen, X crashes. No warnings,

How to work Age of Empires II...
Hello all, First off, I wanted to shoot off a big thanks for the folks who spend their valuable time working on WINE and also on these forums to help out computer illiterate folks like myself. Thanks for "fighting the good fight". Anyway, onward with the question. I currently have a cracked version of AOE II, including the Conquerors expansion on my computer. Before I got it on the

Blank Screen
Hello - newbie here. Please be kind if I'm breaking protocol. I didn't see my question in the FAQ, or a topic related to mine in the Forum. Anyways. Running Warcaft 3 or Wizardry 8 will load - but the screen goes black. I can Alt+Tab out, and do anything else; but there is no response from the game. These games worked fine a while back when I first ran them - but after following the

ThinLTO and linkonce_odr + unnamed_addr
>From looking at the code, it seems like LLVM is basically opting MachO into -fvisibility-inlines-hidden all the time, i.e. if the function is linkonce, it's discardable, so mark it hidden to pretend the compiler inlined it and discarded it. However, this isn't conforming, because the addresses of inline functions will no longer compare equal across DSOs. Realistically, nobody cares
