Weired Sound Issues on Opensuse 11.1 and ALSA (Wine 1.1.26)
Hello Everybody I got some little issues with the sound. Logged in as my normal user - I've the testsound (winecfg) on the internal device. I can't change it. If I log in as root I've the testsound on my external USB speakers (the way I would prefer it works). I can't Imagine me - why there is a different between root and my normal user. Please find below some details. Code:

ALSA Sound Regression
Greetings, I've used wine for several years now, but I've never really gotten involved with development so I'm not sure how or even where this would need to go. I've found a regression in the latest (as of 1-1-09) git of wine; alsa sound doesn't appear to work. It did work from a version of wine I had cloned from git about a week earlier. It also works fine in 1.1.11 release.

boot timeout problems, e.g. winecfg
I have the problem that every application I start with wine takes about 30 seconds to start. It then prints the following message: > > err:process:__wine_kernel_init boot event wait timed out > As far as I can remember this problem this problem exists since I installed SuSE 11.1 (wine 1.1.10?). I see the problems on both of my machines. E.g. set-up of my desktop: > :~> cat

Pre wine version 1.2.26 sound worked fine in lotro and the in game audio options page showed the sound card in a dropdown box and titles for all of the sound option slide bars. In 1.3.26 and now 1.3.27 there is no sound in game and the audio options window does not show any sound card or titles for the sound options or various volume slider bars and all of the bars are set at minimum. Help request: Wine + alsa on 64-bit Fedora 12
Hi all, I'm having a problem with alsa on wine. I'm posting this to both lists--I'm sure that there exist people on both ends who might be able to help. Basically this is it: neither alsa nor oss show up in winecfg. The wine-alsa and wine-oss packages are installed. I have a feeling it's due to 32/64-bitness problems. I'm already having to run all wine apps as wine32

Winecfg does not notice my headphones - only mic (USB Headset) / No 'Mixer Devices' in Alsa - only OSS
Hi, I've been struggling to get everything going fine for a while now. Finally I can talk clearly and hear people. Problem is it was coming through my speakers connected to an external USB Sound Card; if I set it to come through my USB Headset, it comes through speakers anyway. I unplugged USB sound card and restarted computer. Now I tried again. This time I simply do not hear sound.

No alsa mixing device shows in winecfg
For me, no mixerdevice comes up in winecfg under alsa. I have three soundcards, and my winecfg shows the following: Under alsa, wave-in wave out, shows three copies of dmix:system and dsnoop:system There is no category for Mixer Devices. Under oss, which works fine (except not with the clarity of alsa) I show under : wave-out / wave-in / mixer devices Realtek ALC660-VD USB Mixer Creative

Change between OSS and ALSA in command line
Hello, I've noticed that certains applications with ALSA better and others work better with OSS. Is there a way to change this via command line since I don't want to open winecfg everytime I want to open an application. For example, lets say I want to run App1.exe with OSS and App2.exe with ALSA is there any possible way to do something like : -wine App1.exe --sound-system=oss -wine

Wine only sees OSS, not ALSA
I have two machines, both of which run Debian squeeze and on which I compiled Wine 1.2.3. On the older installation of Debian, which uses an Audigy 2 card, when I do $ winecfg, Audio tab, the OSS, ALSA, NAS and EsoundD drivers are seen, with the ALSA driver automatically checked. The sound test works. On the new installation of Deban, with an Audigy 1 card $ winefcg only shows OSS, and so

Wine and ALSA
I am having trouble getting wine to work with my sound. When I use winecfg it can not autodetect the right settings, and it only opens a control device, no output device: Code: hammertime boxfire # lsof /dev/snd/* COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE NODE NAME winecfg.e 9086 boxfire 10u CHR 116,32 5684 /dev/snd/controlC1 explorer. 9108 boxfire 10u CHR 116,32 5684

Unable to use alsa, unusable driver for winecfg
Got a problem with wine. I compiled the 1.1.24 version and a lot of things work very fine. But I can't use the Alsa driver output. When launching winecfg and selecting the Audio tab, a dialog box tell me that the driver "alsa" is present in the registry but unusable and asks me to remove it from the registry. I don't know why the alsa driver is unusable. I have the correct
