Maximized windows dissappear
Hi,
I am using the lastest git version of compiz and just run in to a new
problem after switching to using the ini configuration plugin over the
gconf-one. When I maximize a window and then try to move it to another
viewport, the cube rotates but the maximized window disappears instead
of moving along to the new viewport. The maximized window can be found
using the scale plugin (only on show-all

Upgrade from 2.2.8a to 3.0.0 fails
Hi,
I tried to upgrade samba on a Linux from 2.2.8a to 3.0.0, and after the
upgrade the printer sharing fails. I would like to participate in the
search for the bug (if it is a bug), but I don't know how to start.
If this is not a bug I would like to know why not, and how to work
around, that the printer does not work with the attached smb.conf, while
it works with samba version 2.2.8a

Viewport size Q for those with a widescreen Mac.
At the moment I''m short of access to a widescreen Mac. I''m trying to
find out what the pixel size of the viewport is on Safari when you
have it maximised with tabbed browsing and the standard set of
buttons, menus and toolbars in place.
I''ve done the same exercise on Firefox and IE7 on Ubuntu Linux and
Windows, and for a nominal 1280x800 widescreen display you get a

wine1.3.28 broken msvcp90.dll
I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and the wine1.3 ppa (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-wine/+archive/ppa). I upgraded this morning using the normal update manager, and I went to run Photoshop CS5 which has been working flawlessly for months, it broke. According to /var/log/apt/term.log I updated from wine1.3.26 to wine1.3.28.
I get this error:

Problem with widescreen display
I have a dual boot CentOS 5.2 / FC4 machine, and recently I have bought a new
widescreen tft monitor. I used to use a plain 4:3 crt, and after plugging the
16:9 tft naturally X needed reconfiguring. This was easy in FC4, and seemed
as easy in CentOS, but with a wrong result.
Basically, what I did was to run system-config-display to reconfigure for the
new monitor and resolution. All goes

Photoshop CS2 Crash under Wine, "Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable."
I recently came across a post (circa jan-feb 2008) where a user had encountered a fatal and unrecoverable crash when starting Photoshop for the second or subsequent time.
I've noticed that this issue has happened to many people, myself included while installing it on someone's system today, and that, while there is a short-term workaround (noted below), nobody has yet posted an actual

Adobe Photoshop uses wrong permissions when saving
That doesn't help my version of the problem, though. My create mask is 701,
but Photoshop is creating files with permissions 777.

photoshop was installed.
Then I simulated a windows reboot from wine tools.
Then i again executed ~/bin/dos and went to the place where i

Locking issue with Lightroom and Photoshop
Hi folks,
I have an issue at a weird confluence of macOS Mojave's "nsmb" client,
Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, and Samba 4.7.6-Ubuntu. Since I don't have
much control over Apple or Adobe software, I'm hoping there's some smb.conf
magic (or other sage advice) that might help me out of this jam. For
reference, Samba is configured for SMB2-only access (i.e. durable file

monitor photoshop
Hi!
I'm running a test with Wine 0.9.51 on SuSe 9.1 and Photoshop CS (1) and
everything works perfectly (even working with big files of 1 GB and
launching Image Ready) BUT:
How do I use a CUSTOM Monitor Profile with Photoshop and Wine ?
There seems to be no way to assign a monitor profile to the Wine system
(as in Windows "control panel"), Photoshop just uses "sRGB ...

Photoshop 5 troubles with samba
Hi. Having the following trouble with samba 1.9.18p10:
In Photoshop 5, doing a File-Open and selecting a file intermittently
produces an error from Photoshop:
"The file cannot be opened because it is in use or was not closed
properly" (<-- that's from memory so it may not be the exact
wording).
What is even wierder is this. If I choose a filename from the recent

Upgrading breaks previous configuration?
So far, I have been installing each windows program to a separate wine directory, thus avoiding that one program creates problems for another. For instance Photoshop CS 2 is in .photoshop_wine, C?sar 3 is .caesar3_wine, etc.
So far I have had a number of programs running great, no problems. But today I got an error that I tried googling to no avail:
Code:
