Problems with Wine on Debian
Hello all,
I am fairly new to Linux, so I hope that the following problem is not just me being ... new to Linux.
I have been trying to install Wine on Debian (Etch 4.09 I think it is called). I first tried to use the
apt-get install Wine
command followed by the winecfg (creating the .wine folder), but when I tried to run the notepad.exe (i.e. with the command wine

Wine not running any programs, including winecfg
I am new to linux, and new to wine, and think I may have actually stepped a little out of my depth by jumping into it without a little more coding/programming experience. I am running Kubuntu Hardy, and have encountered a serious problem with wine 1.1.7, in that it doesn't want to function. If I click on exe files, it will open a tab on the taskbar, show activity, then kill the tab.

Wine 1.1.7: Sound regression?
I have recently formatted my system in order to install Intrepid Ibex, and I am now using it with Wine 1.1.7. I did a backup of the prefixes of the games I was using in Hardy / Wine up to 1.1.5, and imported them in my new installment. The games work normally, but the sound is crackling all the time for each of them; something which was not happening in my former installment. I have not noticed

None of the audio drivers seem to work.
I'm using Ubuntu Hardy Heron with a newly installed Wine 1.0.0. When I go into the Audio tab in winecfg and "test sound", it always comes up with a message saying "Audio test failed!"
The other thing is that when I run GTA: San Andreas, it comes up with a message saying that it couldn't find an audio card so it doesn't run.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any

Trackmania through steam
I just installed steam+TMN and it seems to run quite well apart from sound.
I tried switching to OSS and got not sound while on ALSA I get the occasional "click" and thats about it.
Other software I have run through wine is WAR beta and WoW both of which play sound fine, so I suspect maybe Steam is holding up the sound device or something?
I am on Ubuntu Hardy. I also used winetricks

Stopped working!
I use Ubuntu Hardy, and have used wine with Utorrent for months now. Yesterday it failed to respond.
It won't let me load utorrent from the Applications menu, nautilus or command line.
It won't let me configure wine either.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both with latest versions.
I have switched to KDE to try to get them to work - no joy!
Any ideas?

Ubuntu Hardy + Wine + WoW = corrupted graphics
Hello all,
I've got a laptop w/ an "Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML"
graphics card (I know, Intel sucks) running Ubuntu Hardy and Wine
0.9.61~winehq0~ubuntu~8.04-1.
I've had problems getting World of Warcraft to run under wine before, so
when I upgraded to Hardy I thought I would try it again. At least in
the past I could run WoW using the built-in d3d

All Wine dialog boxes have the mouse symbol out of position
I've just installed Wine.
Every Wine dialog box/window, on mouseOver, jumps the mouse cursor left and up, but sends mouse clicks to where the mouse would/should be.
In other words, when I roll the mouse over any Wine box, the arrow symbol immediately moves left and up, then subsequently moves in relation to how I move the mouse, until the original mouse location exits the dialog box, when the
