Office 2007 black artifacting in wine >1.2
I began experiencing this after WINE 1.2 was updating. On the artifacts around the cell I can scroll down then back up and it disappears, only to reappear after entering more data. Before 1.2 I didn't experience this, and Office ran nearly perfectly. I don't have any overrides set because I've never needed to. Since experiencing this I've wiped my .wine directory (and

I would like to have the best shot at a getting a stable, problem free MS office suit running. So what I'd like to know is what version of wine should I install and what version of office should I get. I looked through the app db and it seems like 2002xp and 2007 both run

Multiple Office 2007 Pro PowerPoint Windows Lock Up Laptop
Hello, I'm using MS Office 2007 Pro on Ubuntu 10.04 x64 through wine-1.3.17. After a while my laptop will just freeze (like someone took a screenshot) when I have multiple PowerPoint windows open. This problem seems to be only associated with PowerPoint and not the other Office Apps. Also, whenever I minimize the PowerPoint windows they will group together on my taskbar but little gray

Re: Office 2007 Programs will not Launch
Hello, I am new to wine altogether and find myself experiencing this same problem. I've read through this posting and taken all the advice into account...My install of Office is clean, and I selected to ONLY install word. Also I do not have winetricks installed (or know where to install it from, so I'm glad it's not needed). Terminal output: root at walt-laptop:~# wine

Pathfinder Office 2.70 install- Regedit case sensitive?
Due to a number of issues (including needing to run some specialized DOS software in our lab as well as recent stuff), we have decided to check out the possibility of going to Linux in our lab. I've been testing Linux and Wine. So far, I've found Linux Fedora 10 to be the best for my old (2002 or so) laptop, and I've been trying to get Trimble Pathfinder Office 2.70 running with Wine

Microsoft Office 2007 installed but won't work
I am new to Linux. I am running Ubuntu 10.10. I used the wine (1.2.1) included with Ubuntu, to install Microsoft Office 2007. All of the office products (word, Powerpoint, etc.) show up on the Applications>Wine>Programs>Microsoft Office menu. Unfortunately, not a single one will work. Every product results in the same error message, which indicates that the product has encountered a

MS-Office 2003 crashes when loading documents
I've had a problem with opening existing documents for some time now, but attributed the problem to the number of upgrades my computer has been through. However last week I installed a copy of Ubuntu Maverick and KDE3.5 on a freshly-wiped machine, and I'm still having the same problems. Hopefully someone can help? I have a laptop running ubuntu karmic, and Office 2003 runs fine from

Tiny Network-Problem with Office Software
Hi, I am having some trouble to some Office software with wine. The Program itself starts without problems and runs quite fine. But unfortunatly I am not able to connect to our local Datebase. My Ubuntu Linux itself doesnt seem to have any problems in connecting to the server (but I admit that I don't know how to check if I can access the port 5143 that is used to connect to the database.).

Best practice in small office
Hi folks, I've been reading the definitive guide to samba3 and Samba3 by example as well as scouring on line for advice. Sometimes however I find different suggested solutions to the same problem, so perhaps the list can give me some help with current strategies for these issues. We are a small office and are currently going through an IT refurb. Previously we've had a mix of laptops and

Pros & Cons - Microsoft Office on Macintosh OS X
Hello Boys and Girls and Everybody. I have recently started using a Macintosh computer to replace the dinosaur of an unbelievably unreliable PC that I have been using for the last 10 years. So far I have been very pleased. I have been using OpenOffice for quite a while now as I find it is mostly superior to Microsoft Office in many ways, HOWEVER - OpenOffice lacks the Voice Recognition Software
