Problem with multiboxing WoW
I've been trying to open up multiple instances of WoW under Wine for a while now... I can get two copies open at once without a problem, but I run into issues when I try to open a third. Some background: I'm running each one from a separate install, not trying to open them all from the same folder. I'm using Wine 1.1.2, and the latest binary nVidia drivers (173.14.12). I've

Improve JIT C API
Hi all, I would like to have better C API for LLVM JIT, as I have plans to use it from Rust. I've sent already a patch [1] that adds possibility to create custom memory managers based on SectionMemoryManager using C API. What I would like to have now is a possibility to access ORC through C API somehow. The problem here is that ORC uses templates heavily. So I'm looking for any

sas to r
I would be incredibly grateful to anyone who'll help me translate some SAS code into R code. Say for example that I have a dataset named "dat1" that includes five variables: wshed, site, species, bda, and sla. I can calculate with the following SAS code the mean, CV, se, and number of observations of "bda" and "sla" for each combination of

preserving Mac OS X metadata in rsync backups and restores
Hello all, I'm new to the list, but have done quite a bit of researching before regarding the support of Mac OS X specific features (resource forks, extended attributes, ACLs, file creation & modification date). By reading the archives, I get the impression that the current version of rsync 3.0.0pre8 is quite far in this respect. At least it sounds so, and I thank the developers

Just let whiners whine... Please?
There'll be whiners on all lists, and no list is ever going to be pleasing everybody... (And everyone should decide for themselves whether or not they belong to that group, as I will not be mentioning names! I'm sure there are those who'll think *I* am a whiner...) So at some point just let it be and continue the thread. Keeping on and on about it only increases noise to post

Slightly OT: Astricon and Google Wave
Looking at my shiny new Google Wave account, I was wondering if anyone else on this list is in the beta AND going to Astricon. Astricon seems like it would be a good test of the kind of collaboration GW is trying for. In any case, I'd love to try to do an Astricon wave so let me know if you're interested and we'll get together. I know at least two other people who'll be there

package servers
Hi everyone... Here's a good one. I'm using the R installation for mac osx. An overly helpful friend tried to download a couple of packages for me (via the menu bar), and in the process, set my default package server. To a server that is not responding. I can't seem to get R to give me the option to set a new server. Does anyone know how to tell R to stop looking for the

Improve JIT C API
Lang, aren't you going to be the major (only?) player when it comes to Orc APIs, if you're not opposed to it having them in the C bindings proper will certainly help. That's my vote, I understand it is different from the previous cases but the API surface area here is relatively small. question about icecast & winamp & media player
Ahah! I knew I was not the only person who has experienced this with winamp. The problem here is winamp 2.7. It seems that when I tuned into my shoutcast servers (when I ran shoutcast) with winamp 2.7 the longest period I could hold a stream was a little more then an hour. No matter what I did it would bit the dust. There was some discussion about this on the shoutcast broadcaster list, but no one

Wine won't let me agree to WoW installion terms
I am admittedly very computer stupid. However, I do have wine installed and I have downloaded the World of Warcraft package to install. When I double click on the wowinstall icon, it pulls up wine, no problem. I select the WotLK program (have also tried just plain WoW and BC), select install, select English, select OK. I scroll to the bottom of the terms of use and the "Agree" button

question about icecast & winamp & media player
Hi, It's been pretty quiet as of late. I have a question. I have an icecast server housed at my provider with a very good internet connection. At work I'm using an ADSL line, which should be sufficient to listen to the 128K streams I'm sending out. However, when I listen with WinAmp, after about half an hour the stream stutters and stops. I can restart it and listen again but it

Error msg on shell trying to open WoW (Newb)
Hey everyone, I'll start off by saying I've never successfully made the transition to linux after trying 6 times. Something like this always happens, and I end up giving up and going back to windows; this time, however, I'm determined to win . [Laughing] I've already posted on the ubuntu forums about this issue, and they referred me here. I'll quote the issue so far. >
