Problems running vanilla WoW
Heya, I'm new to all things linux and wine, so forgive my noobiness. I've installed World of Warcraft in wine by extracting the cds to the same directory and ran install.exe; that ran fine besides an error at the end saying that it couldn't add WOW to my add/remove programs. When I try to run it however from ~/.wine/drive_c/wow/WoW.exe I get the following: Code: # wine WoW.exe X

WoW runs *only* as root (openSUSE 11.1, GeForce 8800GTS)
Before I say anything, I should probably say that I do realize that I should not be running wine as root, however for the purpose of debugging I tried it anyways ... and to my surprise found it worked. 1 The situation First of all, this is the same installation, using the same configuration file on the same computer, etc. As a normal user Wow.exe does not even start (note that Launcher.exe does

Question about vidmode switching (WoW related)
Hello. Hopefully I didn't miss this in the archives, so here goes. I've been running World of Warcraft in the CVS version of wine. The game runs perfectly as far as I'm concerned. However, if I run the game at a resolution lower than the desktop resolution it's not quite right. It switches to a view port of the specified size rather than resizing the whole desktop. this means I

(Btw., Johnny, your signatures haven't verified in months. Curiously my intel 845-G has had gl applications (freecad and wine based windows games) STARTED working correctly with this update. I see in a latter email that you have a) found a path issue for users vs root, and b) you are using nvidia. This reminded me of an issue I was having with some GL code I use (jogamp based) and nvidia drivers a little over a month ago, this might be something else you

glxinfo problem
Dear Centos Users We are running centos on our HPC. Indeed, we have a problem with running some software using X11 server such as pymol. For your information, we are using cygwin to access to the hpc (using ssh -X -Y username at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) When we are testing glxinfo on my desktop, it gives us the following error: [username at hpc ~]# glxinfo name of display: localhost:10.0 X Error of

Questions when running WOW and other games in frames.
I have a numbers of questions. I know about half of them are probably program related (World of Warcraft) but I figured I'd group them together for the most part. First the states. I'm using a Dell Inspiron Laptop (their Ubuntu line). I reinstalled Linux myself (had to redo the partitions) and dual boot Ubuntu and Windows 7, Wow does work under Windows 7, but what's the fun in

WoW Worked Once, Now it Don't I'm Stumped
Before we start, I am new to Linux, so please be gentle. I only got as far as I did due to google and this website. I installed World of Warcraft using Wine. After 2 days of troubleshooting and fixing driver issues, I was able to log in last night and the game ran flawlessly. I logged out, installed all of my normal addons logged back in and they all worked. I played for about an hour and
