For example, how would one block all outgoing traffic from any program under ~/.wine You need something like AppArmor or SELinux. How to use them is not a Wine question; ask on your distro support forum.

Re: denying internet access to a win32 app?
Hate to necrobump a thread, but I'm still facing this issue under Wine 1.2 on my box. Is there a piece of wine I can disable to deny internet functionality to windows apps?

Re: denying internet access to a win32 app?
I'd like to do it to simply keep some apps from connecting out. Can you teach me how to do it to all apps across the ~/.wine dir since you indicated that would be simple?

Another app that crashes InstallShield
This site gives away a free stock/currency charting app for Windows: http://www.marketbrowser.com/get_it.asp I got around the InstallShield problem by installing the app in Windows and then I copied the app's folder from Program Files directly to Program Files in my ~/.wine directory--and it worked perfectly on the first try. Amazing. And wine even made a working shortcut on my gnome

No log/mongrel.log file under win32.
To follow up this bug report: When you run mongrel_rails without the daemonize option -d on *nix, it also don''t generate log/mongrel.log file! Because win32 cannot Process.fork like *nix, should it start logging to logfile after showing Ctrl+C option? Suggestions are welcome on how to reply to this "feature". -- Luis Lavena Multimedia systems - Leaders are made, they are

multiple users on LINUX - way to share a single .wine
Basically, I'd like to have just one .wine dir on my file system that multiple users on LINUX can share thus allowing me to keep a single install of my windows apps. The default is to install to /home/CURRENT_USER/.wine so I'm wondering, as long as the LINUX users are in the same group, can I relocate the .wine dir to say, /home/share/.wine and update the wineconfig? I just started using

win32-process 0.3.1 is out
Hi all, Just wanted to let you know that I released 0.3.1 last night. This addresses Bug #712 and incorporates Patches #1087 and #1137 (thanks Aslak). I''ll try to get an open4 implementation out this weekend, though I noticed that Aslak''s patch is different than what Park originally had, so I''ll have to decide which I prefer, or if they can be blended somehow.

Help! How to mix win32 and native os calls in code?
Hi I have a tool that I am running under Mac version of Wine. What I am doing is installing the tool under wine (i.e wine <path to installer pkg.exe>) and then running it from wine. It uses an api to capture current screen (BitBlt api). Under Mac, it is capturing the X windows frame buffer instead of native Quartz frame buffer. I have source code for this tool. I am thinking of

Interest in win32-installer
I was wondering if people would be interested in wrapping msi.dll functionality, I''ve started writing a small library to enable enumeration of products installed via Windows Installer using win32api (I know I can also query via win32ole to win32_product but I don''t seem to get all the properties that are in msi.h). It''s a little messy, and I''ve not got far as

OS X programs on Linux
This might turn out to be a more complicated answer than it is a question. I want to use programs for Mac OS X in Ubuntu 8.10 and was curious as to if there was something out there like Wine that would allow me to do so. This might also help. I want to use my OS X version of Photoshop CS3. Any suggestions, or should I just give up?

Cannot run Jact's Eamonn software
I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 wine version 1.0 I can run the install file just fine but when I go to run the program It quits all together. I am a complete noob and cannot figure out how to get the log file for it. Please forgive me as I am extremely new to *nix systems. I just want someone to point me in the right direction. Thanks. link to the software's site http://www.jact.com
