Sources for extras??
With invaluable help here, I've just gotten 6.0 onto a PC. I went through the listings in PackageKit, removing things I know I'll never use; ran yum update; installed Opera; went to the epel, rpmfusion, and one whose name slips my mind (It's a new name.); enabled them all; and tried to get a lot of my regular apps : [....] Setting up Install Process No package dillo

Wine CD-ROM on Mac OS X
Can Wine access DVD-RW devices natively on Mac OS X like it can on Linux? I was using Wine in Linux to run ImgBurn and it worked great, but I recently switched to Snow Leopard and I don't know how to configure this. I tried adding the Volume that was mounted by Finder. I tried adding /dev/disk2. Neither worked. I really like ImgBurn and do not want to abandon it if possible. Thanks.

Getting WIne to see hidden folders in Linux?
I'm running IMGBurn on WINE and I've run into a problem. Imgburn itself works great, and I've burned a few CD's and DVD's already. My problem is this, I use a separate computer to do DVD video conversions and have always accessed the resulting files to burn from that computer across my home network. Now, Windows shares are mounted in the following directory:

VDQ : Triple Boot Advice?
Let me set up a Very Dumb Question (VDQ). My apologies in advance for repeating much of this to those who have been of such vast help getting me this far. Adding browsers
Recently, I put CentOS 6.4 on one of the four PCs I keep behind a KVM switch. I like it a whole lot in most ways, but Fedora has spoiled me : I install almost every browser I can, and generally keep half a dozen or more open, mostly with several tens of tabs open. Iow, I use browsers as I used to use books, back in the Carboniferous when I had a desk in the stacks. Are there ways a

Changes to get CD to boot on EFI System.
Hi, Jernej Simon?i? wrote: > I'll use isolinux.bin directly - oscdimg complained that it's too > large, so I just dded the first 2048 bytes to boot.bin to get it to > shut up. That's quite a deadly surgery. It is true that BIOS shall only load 2 KB of the binary. But by help of the boot information table within this initial code piece isolinux.bin can locate the other bytes

Copy data from XP to same app under Wine??
With snarls and curses and gnashing of teeth, I still keep one laptop and one dual-bootable PC hard drive with XPProSP2 installed. (Everything else is Fedora 10.) I do so purely for one class of apps, proprietary map software. Wine can now install and run at least one, and the most important, of the four suites of such apps that I have. (That one is Garmin MapSource, including Topo US

Mappery breakthrough : Garmin topo, vista, rino, under linux & CXO
As most of you know, I've been trying to make GPSs and topo maps usable under Fedora Core 4 linux, using CrossoverOfficePro (CXO) 5.0.1. I've belabored nine or ten specialized lists for six or eight weeks, parcelling out pieces of the problem wherever I hoped they might arouse interest and knowledge. I've gotten invaluable help and encouragement from all of them, on the lists

Wine Fails to recognize DVD RW Drive
Greetings, thank you in advance for the help. I'm currently running the Jaunty Ubuntu release with Wine 1.1.22. P4, 1 DVD Drive, one DVD R/W drive, 1.5 GB Ram, 20 GB Ubuntu partition, 46 gb Windows 7 partition. Install error - disc 2
I am doing a fresh install of 6.3 from DVDs that I created on a Windows laptop. I used ImgBurn to create them. When I started the install I selected "test" and both discs passed. The install requested disc 2 and after putting it in I get the message "That's not the correct CentOS disc". I tried creating another disc but still get the same message. The installation status

Changing default browser in options()
I usually startup R from within several directories (usually where the programs or data of interest are). I like to use a small web browser called dillo to browse help files. However, by default R looks for mozilla, so I have to type every single R session: > options(browser='dillo') Is there anyway I can change this globally? thanks, J.

Salvage old data?
For years, I could install, and sometimes run, legacy private map software under Wine. But in order to connect it with my GPSs, I had to keep a separate hard drive with XP, and do that there. Then came a brief time when I could also actually make my Garmin GPSs talk with the software under Wine. I transferred all my data to it, and gleefully wiped XP off my machine. Then the connecting

Re: Problems with ImgBurn, err:aspi:ASPI_GetNumControllers
Well, I finally found something of a solution. It's not ideal, but that may be down to my distro or my unfamiliarity with "udisks". I have to unmount the udisks auto-mounted optical device and then manually mount that drive to /media/cdrom0 (or wherever). At which point I can start ImgBurn and change the Interface (Tools->Settings->I/O->Page1) to SPTI. The drive can then

iso size?
I've been being told, over and over, by K3B, Brasero, and Isomaster, on two machines, with three different downloads of 6.0, that the file is too large for the medium. Nautilus and the browser that die each download all say it's 4.4 GB; I've tried with two +R and an RW DVD, all of which are labelled 4.7 GB Two of the files are 32-bit, and one is 64 What is going wrong?? --

CentOS 6 x86_64 DVD doesn't boot
Hi Everyone, I downloaded the CentOS 6 x86_64 DVD ISOs and burned the first image to a rewritable DVD. When I tried to boot my new home server off it, it didn't, and then this was printed to the screen: ETCDisolinux: Found something at drive = EF No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found! boot: The same disc works fine in my 4 year old HP laptop, and when installing CentOS 6 as a KVM.
