Re: Can't install IE6
Hi awdoyle, I too wanted IE6 installed for the purpose of Outlook Express and its mail handling, particularly with folders as I have many. (...disregarding alternative clients with add ons for the moment) I know IE6 can be installed using Codeweavers Crossover Linux app (based on WINE). With this install, OE is also installed. (You need to manually create a link to the .exe file) I currently

Re: Can't install IE6
Hi Daniel, Thanks for your reply, I don't necessarily want "Outlook Express". I want an email client that can manage folders within hotmail, and will synchronise with the server so I can access the same mail from another machine (i.e. work) via the web. If there is another free mail client that provides that functionality for hotmail, I will gladly use it. I agree that there are

Segmentation fault during compilation
Hey everybody, I've been trying to compile wine since version 1.0 and have gotten crashes during the make command, about 20 minutes in. Very frustrating. I'm running Fedora 9, and I believe gcc version 4.3.0.8. Is this a gcc problem? If so, what can I do to fix it? Output of failed make command follows... gcc -c -I. -I. -I../../../include -I../../../include -D_REENTRANT -fPIC -Wall

IE6, flash, abysmal performance
Hi all. I'm using Wine ( 1.1.4 ) to test some Flash stuff ( flex ) in IE6. IE6 runs quite well normally, but once Flash is loaded up, it goes VERY slowly indeed. I've done a quick sysprof profile ( http://entropy.homelinux.org/ie6_flash.sysprof ), and from what I can see ( and I'm most certainly no expert ), it looks like most CPU cycles are being burned in fbGetImage and fbCopyArea

Fatal server error: DMA queue hang
Greetings. I have an aging GeForce4 MX ( integrated ). I just updated to Ubuntu-8.10 without considering the consequences of moving to xserver-1.5. Needless to say I won't be using Compiz for a while now ... So I've tried to get nouveau drivers running ( I've been watching the project, but mainly waiting for a release ... now my hand has been forced ). I used the packages for Ubuntu

Non-english character issue with uTorrent
I am using utorrent to use torrents from a particular torrent site which I haven't been able to make their torrents work with KTorrent. I have an issue with one of them, when I attempt to save it in utorrent I get "Unable to save .torrent to C:\...\Kein Blick zurLck.torrent". I believe that this is caused by the cyrillic character in the name, which replaces the German "?"

Utorrent lists wine as platform.
visiting these guys ---> http://www.utorrent.com/download.php I noticed that the system requirements said: For Wine, Windows 95 (Winsock2), 98/ME, NT/2000, XP, 2003, and Vista. Coming soon for Mac! I thought it was quiet cool to list wine alongside windows as a platform. More software should do this when they know their package works on wine.

Need help running uTorrent with Wine...
Hello, I have a server that has FreeBSD 6.2, and I have Xorg, Flushbox and a vnc server installed on it. I've also installed the latest version of wine, and I'm trying to launch uTorrent with it. I tried to launch 2 other small programs, and they worked perfectly, except a small error message before they were launched: > err:process:__wine_kernel_init boot event wait timed out
