Printing W2K net use lpt
Hello, I've got a problem with printing on a Windows 2K box. Printing from that box to a samba server via the normal print mechanism works fine. The problem is when the person needs to print to a lpt port. The capture succeeds, but when the file is copied to lpt2 it never gets printed. There are other machines that can do the capture and copy to the lpt port but they are Win 9x. The

Printer Permissions Problem
I am unable to add drivers to network printer. I am logged in as a user who is allowed to write to those shares. But when ever I right click on the Properties of the printer when viewing \\DC\Printers and Faxes\PrinterName, Most of the tabs are disabled. I was able to install the drivers some time ago. But not any more. The more weird thing is that for some of the network printers, the Ports tab

adding LPT port to wine? Acrobat 5/PDFWriter installation problem
hi all, I'm using the official wine-20041201-0.1 on Sue 9.1 (i386). I used winetools 2.10 to facilitate my wine installation and it was a godsand. I have installed Office 2000 and so far so good, but I like to extend my wine functionality just a bit more. I like to install Acrobat 5 (not reader) with PDFWriter on my wine installation. The problem I have is that, during the

cups-1.3.7-32.el5_11.x86_64 may have a problem
Everyone, I have a problem I have been chasing for about three weeks and only occurred after cups was updated with cups-1.6.3-22.el7. I would be interested as to whether any one else has had this problem, and would entertain suggestions as to how I can debug the problem. My Centos 5 server is a gateway as well as a cups print server that has been in place for 8 years and has continued to

Setup Windows XP to print to CUPS printer on FC5
I am quite sure this question has been asked before but I can't find anything in the archive and Google does not turn up anything useful. I have Fedora Core 5 with an HP LaserJet 5L printer connected to the LPT port. I also have the CUPS printer queue shared. I am trying to setup up a Windows XP laptop with wlan on my home network to be able to print to that printer. I have little

Cannot get HP1055CM Color Plotter to work with "Point and Click"
G'day All, We are using Samba 3.0.6 as a PDC and print server. The OS is RHEL 3.0. I've gone thru the procedure detailed in "The Official Samba Howto..." book and the other HP and Lexmark LaserJet printers work properly using the postscript drivers. However, HP 1055CM Color Plotter works best with the HPGL/2 drivers if the drivers are installed on the client workstation but, do

Printing samba, cups and legacy 16 bit applications
hello everybody, I have come to a dead end. I have successfully configured cups and samba to print from windows with automated drivers download. It works perfectly, but for one little problem, most of the printing here in my company are reports printed by the ERP software, which has been developed by ouserlves some 12 years ago in (oohh sucks) Visual basic 3. The problem is: Every single

does anyone use the enumports command for anything useful ?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm just wondering if we should remove this enum ports command altogether. Ports are a consemtic concept in Samba for the most port since the printer is really tied to the queue name. But before I think about this anymore is there anyone actually using enumports for something other than #!/bi/sh echo "LPT1:" echo "LPT2:"

WINEPS insists on using LPT1:
I'm running Wine 20010305. I am using the WINEPS driver and trying to direct it to various printers on various ports. It seems to output to port LPT1 regardless of the port I specify in the registry and win.ini. Here is a simplified scenario, in which I define only one printer, on LPT2. Can any one tell me what is happening? Follow-up question: Am I limited to 9 printers, on LPT1-LPT9?

Print Capture problem
Not a Samba issue per se, but I hope someone can help. I just rolled out a Samba 2.2.5 RH7.3 box for a client. He uses a DOS architectural package that only prints to LPT1 or LPT2. He has a locally attached laser printer on LPT1, a couple of network attached plotters that I want to use on LPT2. The client software is Win98 SE. I wrote a couple of batch files that went like this: net use lpt2
