Wine and menus
I have a problem with a software called Italian "LaParola (www.laparola.net). The installation is successful, but when I access the program, I do not see the menu, which is transparent. Using Wine 1.3 on Ubuntu 10.10. This is the first time I participate in the forum: I try to post a screenshot but I'm not sure to succeed ...

most likely it's not sscrun.dll, but scrrun.dll. It's comes for example with this app: http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?groupname=alltoavi&filename=AllToAVI_v4_r5394_Setup.exe&use_mirror=kent

Re: Run-time error '429': ActiveX component can't create objec
Okay, I've stumbled upon this thread whilst looking for a solution to 429. I copied the file from my office XP station to my laptop, and followed the registration instructions from your post to no avail. I'm on Mint 5 Gnome, which is built upon Ubuntu 8.04. I was thinking of combining all the solutions I've read: copy sscrun.dll and regv32.exe into /.wine/yadda yadda Has anyone

Re: AADE Filter Design: "ActiveX component can't create obj
Alright you first need to either copy it from windows or download it from somewhere a filed called Msscript.ocx, then in your terminal type "regsvr32 msscript.ocx", then with wintricks vcrun2005 then winetricks wsh56 once its done it should allow you to enter the program without that crash, if you see the crash again uninstall and reinstall it. I don't know what this program is but

Debugging Leage of Legends
I would really like to get this program working, and I'm willing to learn to develop and fix the problem myself. I was able to get a backtrace but I'm having trouble determining what it actually means as I've never read a backtrace before. If anyone would be willing to help me shed some light on this it would be appreciated, thanks in advance! drew212 at drew212-desktop:~$ winedbg

Session variable data validation
I''ve been using rails for about a month and I''ve been noticing that most of my controller functions use values from my session variable. I find that I write something like: person = Person.find(session[:person] if( person ) # ... else flash[:notice] = "unable to retrieve person" redirect_to( :action => index ) end It seems redundant to write similar code for

OT: Supporting mainframe terminal emulator activex controls in IE under Linux?
[This is really just a post-it note to myself, but I'm cc'ing it to wine-users in case it's useful to others.] I was told recently that a company wanted to migrate some desktops to Linux, but ended up not being able to because they had a web-based application that 1) required IE, and 2) used an ActiveX control that implemented a 5250 terminal emulator to connect to a mainframe
