[OT] Oracle->MySQL ODBC via SSL using: stock MySQL, mysql-connect or-odbc-3.51.27-0, Oracle XE
I know this is very off topic, but getting MySQL and unix ODBC to play nice via SSL on Centos has been a battle. I finally have it working via isql but when I connect via Oracle I get an error. If I use the mysql odbc connector directly: ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message: [Generic Connectivity Using ODBC][MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]SSL connection error

R talking to Oracle, ODBC drivers available ?
[sorry, but this is a re-post - I forgot to set the subject line the first time around] Hello, I would like to access an Oracle database running on Solaris from R on my linux desktop. I have had a look at the R Data Import/Export manual, and downloaded RODBC and unixODBC, but I am still quite confused about how to proceed. It appears to me that I still need to get an Oracle ODBC driver, and

However I'm getting the following error > library(RODBC) > setwd (paste("/home/oracle/scripts/R")) > channel

Announce: pmg -- menu driven GUI using RGtk
Hello all, I've put together a quick and dirty menubar + dialogs + spreadsheet GUI for R using the RGtk package. Performance is not great (OOP is a real memory hog?), the design may be worse, but the hope is that it will be useful in an introductory stats course while we await the arrival of a real gui with ObveRsive and SciViews. The package can be found at

Integrate a 1-variable function with 1 parameter (Jose L. Romero)
Hey fellas: I would like to integrate the following function: integrand <- function (x,t) { exp(-2*t)*(2*t)^x/(10*factorial(x)) } with respect to the t variable, from 0 to 10. The variable x here works as a parameter: I would like to integrate the said function for each value of x in 0,1,..,44. I have tried Vectorize to no avail. Thanks in advance, jose romero

Recent UnixODBC Issues
Kia ora, As many of you are aware (and for those who aren't) as part of Asterisk 13.8 changes went into the res_odbc module to more heavily leverage UnixODBC connection management and pooling capabilities. Previously we would use only a single connection to the database. Since this has been released many individuals have reported crashes and apparent deadlocks as a result of this change.

summary statistics for grouped data
Hello list: Is there an easy way (preferably through one of the standard R packages) of obtaining summary statistics for grouped data? I could split the data into classes by hist, and then progressively calculate all the "columns" i need to obtain the mean and standard deviation, but i was looking for a single function that could do that with a data vector. Thanks in advance, jose

I want to write a function that will create a table which is a subset of myData containing those have a score > 75.
