Wine and eBookMan Desktop
How do I get wine to connect to an USB port ? I have tried the following (in ~/.wine/dosdevices): ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 USB: but there are a couple of problems. 1) SuSE 10.1 has no ttyUSBx devices; 2) I don't know if USB: is the correct name for the port -- Andrew "Oh, bother," said the Borg. Windows .SYS Drivers
Is there any way to get .SYS device drivers working with wine ? I have just acquired a Franklin eBookMan and want to use it to read. But the Linux program (ebmsync and ebmsync.tk) will not work on my (SuSE 10.1) laptop. -- Andrew "Oh, bother," said the Borg. "We've assimilated Pooh."

Monitor UPS Brand SMS
I am far from expert on these matters. But have a couple questions: 1. Are you sure that /dev/ttyUSB0 exists and is the result of the Prolific USB->serial converter? For example, if you yank the Prolific and reboot, is /ttyUSB0 there still? It is possible that there is another /dev/ttyUSBx out there.I doubt this but wonder. 2. I have recently been fuddled due to permission problems of

SeaClear II / Wine use 100% of the CPU
Hi! I'm having problems with SeaClear II v1.0.0.196. After setting up the symlinks in ~/.wine/dosdevices pointing to my gps-device (GlobalSat BU-353 USB) everything works as expected, but for some reason Wine/SeaClear steals all available CPU-time. 100% all the time. This problem does not exist if I start SeaClear with the GPS disconnected, making me belive there is a problem with

Wine + winebottler + azloader.exe + rs232 to usb, adapter
Ubuntu creates /dev/ttyUSB0 for me when I plug in the usb-to-serial-adapter. I have a symbolic-link to /dev/ttyUSB0 from 'dosdevices/com1'. What is new in 10.04 Ubuntu is that I have to sudo chmod o+r and sudo chmod o+w on /dev/ttyUSB0 every time before I start the app which uses that serial line. ttyUSB0 goes away when I unplug the serial adapter from the USB port or shut down the

Problems with USB-serial converters -- please advise on code fix
Hello! I've ran into this annoying issue when setting up a new server. I have an APC SmartUPS hooked up on a USB-serial converter on /dev/ttyUSB0. Can't connect USB Serial (COM3)
Wine does great job for GUI on screen (PC Oscilloscope) But, can't USB connect to external hardware device that has FTDI 245AM chip in it. See device in /dev/ttyUSB0. See device in lsusb, also in lsmod. Did normal linking, ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 /.wine/dosdevices/com3. No luck. See the link with: ls -al of dosdevices. Using COM3 because in Windows registry in Wine, it says COMPORT=3 Any help?

USB to serial converters
Anyone have an idea as to how to automatically detect the USB number and create a sym link in the dosdevices directory. The problem is that I have several USB devices not used at the same time, and when the USB to serial adapter is connected, a /dev/ttyUSB? is assigned. To use this assignment under WINE, I need to automatically detect /dev/ttyUSB? and then create a sym link in

Magellan Roadmate tools 3050T & Suse 10.2
I am trying to access my GPS using wine 0.9.24 0n Suse 10.2 and Cxoffice 6.0 Beta 3a . Cxoffice 5.03 does not work at all with my Suse 10.2 installation. The Magellan road mate tools work well enough in both cxoffce beta and wine, however wine seems to handle it better when importing POI ( Points of Interest) files. Overall I think the wine included with Suse 10.2 is doing a better job -

Help with USB-to-serial cable
I am trying to use software to program a scanner radio (BCD396t and UASD software). The software installs and seems to run properly, reading and writing database files. But I cannot connect to the scanner, through a USB-to-serial cable. OS: ubuntu-8.10, kubuntu-8.10, debian/lenny (tried them all) lsusb identifies the cable as follows: Bus 002 Device 002: ID 067b:2303 Prolific Technology, Inc.

USB Serial Port receives no data
Hello, I have an application that sends data out to a serial port, then should receive the reply. After some hassles I got the application to enumerate the serials (in a dialog box where you select the port), and after creating the link in dosdevices (in lower case I should note, wine will not recognize COM1) it actually starts sending out data (verified using a terminal on the other end). But

megatec driver and usb-to-serial converters
Hi all, Currently, the "megatec" driver only supports UPSes which have a serial (RS232) interface. However, I'm under the impression that most of the models that speak the megatec protocol, and have an USB interface, just have a standard serial-to-USB converter inside. This being the case, there should be a "/dev/ttyUSBx" device which the megatec driver could use just as
