7zip benchmark
Hi, I could try latest 7zip (4.57) on a triple boot machine (Debian SID i386, x86_64 and native Windows XP SP2), and found something surprising in the results : amd64 at 2400MHz linux32 -> 1814 linux64 -> 1946 win32 -> 2004 So performance is much better in Linux 64 bit than in 32 bit, while both are slower than native windows system. Is it normal, I mean does anyone else obtain

Ralph, Conrad, Now that we have ROE as a means to describe a multi-track ogg file - i.e. a means to author Skeleton - I assume this is supposed to describe how we map ROE information into Skeleton through the use of fisbone message header fields, right? In this case I wonder if you have gone over all the current ROE spec and made sure that all this information is either in ROE or easily

Red Hat Enterprise and samba
Hello, I use RH Entreprise. With this version I?ve got the samaba 3.0.10-1.4E. I?ve got a problem with this version and Windows 2003 server SP1 and ArcServ. I can contact the samba share when I use the Windows Explorer. When I want to contact with ArcServ Backup software, Samba logs display this : Apr 20 10:50:34 aofrso449 smbd[29938]: api_pipe_bind_req: unknown auth type 1 requested.

Missing files on Windows client side.
In a directory with approximately 6000 files, several files are missing on the Windows side. If I check the directory on Unix (AIX) they are all there. As far as I can see there's nothing strange with this files en I can't see any connection between the missing files. It looks like it's randomly. A few examples of missing files: FAKTREF.10062005.16 (See debug information)

Fw: Missing files on Windows client side
Jeremy, I think we found the part of source where the problem resides: smbd/trans2.c +1444 for (i=0;(i<maxentries) && !finished && !out_of_space;i++) { +1445 BOOL got_exact_match = False; +1446 +1447 /* this is a heuristic to avoid seeking the dirptr except when +1448 absolutely necessary. rsync to retry if copy failed - possible?
Hello, I want to be 100% sure that rsync copies something from one location to another. However, I did not see an option which would make rsync retry an operation if it failed for whatever reason (network was down when rsync started, or network went down during rsync was copying something, connection timed out etc.). For example, wget has an option like --tries=number Set number of retries

Mounting a previously Windows (ntfs) file system
Hello, I'm planning a conversion of a Windows server (SBS2011) to Samba. All the user data files are already on a separate disc in the Windows server and my idea is to unplug the Windows boot drive and plug in a FreeBSD installation with Samba 3.6.25 running and tested on another machine. Fortunately it's a small installation and everybody is using the same share on the Windows

We have new drafts of CMML 4.0 as a text codec and ROE as an xml stream abstract, subsuming the authoring support in CMML 3.1 and earlier. Another thing we talked about at LCA is a how to specify relationships between the various streams in Ogg so that a server, muxer or player can make intelligent decisions about the contained tracks. The general idea is to use the (http-style) Message
