Steam Games - Flickering/Flashing Menu during Gameplay.
Hello. I recently installed Steam through Wine 1.0.0, but when I run DOD: Source, Half Life, DOD, or Deathmatch Classic, I experience the same problem. The game loads and runs fine, but the menu screen is flashing over the actual gameplay images every second. It's as if the menu screen is trying to stay on top of the game, but it's struggling to do so.
I am using Ubuntu 8.04, Wine 1.0.0

Trouble with Starcraft II, actual gameplay doesn't work.
I installed starcraft 2 into wine, and everything works perfectly fine. I log in, go to singleplayer, start a game with the AI, and everything works as it should. But the actual game doesn't work, I can't see or control any units or
buildings. Example:

Unreal Tournament - variable speeds during gameplay
Unreal Tournament works great in 1.1.4, but with one 'little' problem - the speed of game (not fps, just speed of gameplay) is changing chaotically during gameplay - for example it speeds up whe looking on the floor - strange, isnt it??
Ofc I do own dual core processor, but commands taskset 0x01 and -cpuspeed dont work.
I dont understand, the Native UT goes ultra fast (and with graphic

Gameplay asks for the second CD
Wing Commnader Prophecy (multiple CD's) install doesn't give any problem (due to its small pop-up format window) and the game plays well until I come to the next CD.
Game grabs full screen 800x600 svga. Pop-up window for second CD appears, but I can not switch with <Alt><Tab> to desktop.
What did I already try?

Can't install Steam games with 1.1.8 and 1.1.9
I've installed wine 1.1.8 after a fresh installation of ubuntu intrepid, and while steam downloads and installs properly, when I go to my games list and select a game to install wine just quits.
1.1.9 was just released a short while ago, I was hoping it would fix it, but I'm still stuck.
Help please I'm kinda new to this.

Connection problems with Steam games
Hello,
I've been having problems trying to run Steam games. The Steam itself takes up a lot of resources even when idle, for some reason, but the games run rather smoothly - in menu that is.
Most of the games I have on steam are multiplayer games, and as the topic title suggests, I can't ever get to play them due to problems on connection. When playing Men of War, the game freezes on

Certain Steam games won't launch
I did some moderate searching and didn't see my problem, so I'll post it here, as I believe it's a Wine problem (although it's very possible it's not, Ubuntu is an interesting beast XD).
About... oh, I'd say 3 weeks ago, I tried to open Garry's Mod and it said "launching", and the launching window closed as normal, but then nothing happened after that. This

Steam Popcap games on nVidia TwinView
I seem to be having a video update issue with Popcap games on Steam using Twinview. Has anyone else run into this problem? (I did try to search for a resolution of the issue, but perhaps my search mojo is lacking.)
Situation: Run Steam, Install game (Insaniquarium! Delux), Start Game
Symptom: Game starts windowed. Display only updates when I click on it. (i.e Click on Options button, click in

Steam games will not launch
I've tried both 1.1.15 and 1.1.14, and I can't get my Counter Strike Source to launch.
All that happens is a window comes up and says "Launching Counter Strike Source...", then the window closes, and the game never launches.
Here is my Output from when I launch the game via Steam, to when it stops.

State of Steam Games
What is the current status of Steam games in Wine? Some people claim same or better performance than Windows and other say its much worse. At least with TF2, the game goes from great performance with decent settings in Windows, to barely playable with all settings on low in Wine. Can Steam games run well in Wine without having a machine so powerful it can overcome any software problems? Is there a

Sound problems in Steam games
This topic seems to pop up every now and then, and I think I've tried all the solutions that have been given for it. I'm running Linux Mint 9 (64 bit) with Wine 1.1.42. The problem is that when I start a Steam game, I either get no sound, or I have sound for a few minutes, then it cuts out. The problem happened to me under both Ubuntu 10.04 (64 bit) and Linux Mint 9 (64 bit). I have tried
