StreetSmart Pro - hang during install
Hi,
I built Wine-0.9.5 this morning from portage on one of our Gentoo
machines. I then tried installing the StreeSmart Pro Simulator
application from Charles Schwab. The install hung very quickly and got
to the point where a winepreloader process was using 100% CPU but was
making no apparent forward progress. When I hit Ctrl-C in the terminal
where I was running I got this info in an error box:

Wine Installshield and Sketchup
Hi,
First post so apologies if I get the etiquette wrong.
I'm attempting to install Sketchup, (excellent Mac and Win 3d sketching
software), under Wine 20040914 and InstallShield with no Win partition. I'm
running SuSE, kernel version 2.6.5-7.108. I have installed dcom98.exe and
my .dlls are set as follows:
"oleaut32" = "builtin, native"

Exception 0xc06d007f in Civ IV Warlords
I've been successfully playing Civ IV in wine for some time, but recently I've been trying unsuccessfully to upgrade to the Warlords expansion. I tried various suggestions that I found through google, including those on wine's appdb. Basically, I've tried every combination of:
setting Direct3d 9 to be native
installing msxml3 via winetricks and making it native

Civ IV
Hello,
I'm trying to get Civ IV running on my 64 bit version of Ubuntu 7.10
using the latest Wine version using these directions:
http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2007/06/10/special-civilization-iv-playable-on-linux/
(the winehq appDB points to this guide as well)
I'm having problems getting CivIV to run though. Firstly, looking at the
wine settings here:

Can't install Civ4
I know this is a long shot, but I have to ask.
I had tried to get Civ4 working in Wine without success in the past, but recently was encouraged to try again based on reports in the Civ4 linux forum. One key was that versions before 1.3.X didn't work.
Running openSuse 11.4, which installed Wine 1.3.12, I just followed the usual procedure to install Civ4, Beyond the Sword and my favorite mod,

wine-1.1.29 crash on civ IV
Hi,
I'm running into errors trying to launch Civilization IV (both basic
and BtS). I followed the instructions from the thread below:
http://osdir.com/ml/wine-users/2009-08/msg00427.html
...and changed OffscreenRenderingMode to "backbuffer". This solves the
problem described there but runs into another. Setting it to "pbuffer"
gives the same result:

How did you upgrade ?
If I remember correctly, both 20.04 and 22.04 come with 4.15.13 (latest
Samba version available), so could it be that the upgrade from 20.04 to

upgrade ununtu 20.04 -> 22.04 and samba 4.18 -> 4.19
It?s always recommend to demote the DC, upgrade samba, and join the DC again. Did you do it this way ?
You may have a broken DC, or a broken installation.
Instead of troubleshooting, which you can of course do, I?d demote (or force-demote), reinstall and re join.

Questions about installing Xen with Ununtu 9.04
Hi,
I have some question about how to install xen in ubuntu 9.04. I read some
instructions online that said to install "ubuntu-xen-server". Is that all I
need to run xen kernel?
After installing ubuntu-xen-server I know have a kernel called
linux-2.6.28-18-server. Is linux-2.6.28-18-server dom0?
I am not sure if I am installing all packages required to have xen running.
I would

This is rarely needed and in almost all cases is unnecessary and just an extra work.
The only good reason to do that is when you upgrade a very old version of samba,
skipping 5..10 or more releases in between, and even there it almost always

wine 1.3.3 on UNUNTU 10.04.1 with gmax 1.2
On wine 1.2 gmax material navigator opens its file system window but can't access the data. On 1.3.3 when you try to open the material navigator, the program posts an error and quits.
One assumes we are working on the file system(s) interface within the wine/windows interpreter. If so, I don't know if this is progress or not. The current result is certainly unambiguous.
The appdb has

I did a do-release-upgrade first to go from 20.04 to 22.04, and then updated my /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mjt.list to go from focal/samba-4.18 to jammy/samba-4.19. I also

So I did everything on this page:
