I am having great trouble running World of Warcraft, after it has been installed. I copied over all the CD/DVD contents for both WoW and WoW:TBC on to my HDD and installed it, then patched it with Wine without a hitch. Sunday I intalled Kubuntu 8.04RC and afterwards discovered that an old 16 bit windows program I've been running for years in WINE will no longer run. At first it told me there wasn't 16 bit support. So, just for chuckles I booted 8.04 with the older 2.6.22.14 kernel and it worked just fine. I prefer to use the new kernel since the scanning software no longer works under the older kernel

Regarding WINE support for DOS apps: Is there some fundamental reason why WINE could not be made to support old DOS apps (like Warcraft), or is it just a matter of missing libraries and such? In other words, is there a reason why DosBox, etc. are full hardware emulators, or why full DOS library support in WINE still wouldn't be enough? Thanks, -- Joel Parker
