H&R Block Tax cut with wine
I purchased H&R Block Tax cut Deluxe to do my 2004 taxes.
I decided to give The Feb 2005 version of Wine under Fedora 1 a try
before rebooting my machine to Windows and actually starting to work on my
taxes.
Wine seemed to install Tax Cut with out any problems.
However, when I tried to start Tax Cut 2004 , it complained that Mozilla did
not have an
active X Browser and offered to go on

[rfc] dsound: decrease sound latency
Hi all,
Please test this and let me know if it's causing any problems in sound
playback, preferably with media applications and games, any feedback
would be appreciated. The patch won't fix existing problems, it should
just decrease the audio lag. As such I would prefer only to receive
feedback on issues INTRODUCED or FIXED by this patch.
If it's causing issues, I want to know:

most common VOIP echo simulaton for research purposes ?
Hi,
I'm speech recognition researcher and would like to do some research on
recognition robustness in echo distortion of speech signal. Since VOIP is
becoming wide spread, I'd like to simulate (one or more) common echo
distortions that mostly appear in voip communications ? Any example, FIR or
IIR filter or acoustical system response ?
Any other distortion worth researching ?
Thanks

Some dsound oddness
I had noticed a few weeks ago that sound for me on Riven was now having
problems. It used to be almost perfect, but now it was suddenly doing
things like changing pitch and speed, losing sync with the video, and
breaking up.
Of course I initially suspected a regression, though no one else
mentioned problems. I just now got around to spending a bit more time on
it and found it was not a

PROPOSAL: Extend inline asm syntax with size spec
Hi people,
this is an attempt to see whether gcc's inline asm heuristic when
estimating inline asm statements' cost for better inlining can be
improved.
AFAIU, the problematic arises when one ends up using a lot of inline
asm statements in the kernel but due to the inline asm cost estimation
heuristic which counts lines, I think, for example like in this here

Hi Emily !
Thank you for responding.
I think my problem is not (yet) with OPUS itself. Encoding at complexity
0 takes 1.6ms ( 4.342ms at complexity 10 !) and decoding takes 1.9ms.
3.5ms, out of my 4.096ms budget, is

Ubuntu 6.06, wine and ALSA
Hello everybody.
I got some strange problem when running wine with ALSA as sound driver.
For example: when I run mdk2 (I compiled wine myself version 0.9.22 -
newest for now) sound is very noisy and crack'y and I get tons of this
errors:
err:dsound:DSOUND_MixInBuffer length not a multiple of block size, len
= 3122, block size = 4
