Team Fortress 2: Hardware must support Pixel Shader 1.1
Hello! I just installed TF2 and Steam through WINE. However, once I started it, it said my hardware must support at least Pixel Shader 1.1 to run the game. I looked up my Gfx card online, and the specs say my card supports Pixel shader 1.4. The requirements on the box say I need a card that supports Direct X 8. This shouldn't be a problem, because I've used both 8 and 9 on Windows. Is this

bug report howto pixel shader
i am running ultima online : Kingdom Reborn and if i leave the default for pixel shader the game login screen shows a blank screen with the mouse shown but if i goto winecfg graphics and uncheck pixel shader the game intro screen and login screen show up and i am able to play the game as usual (with minor bugs)
what i am wondering is how do i get the info if any to report a bug ( i was advised to

Switch for pixel shader?
I haven't owned windoze in a few years and decided to dust off a few old favourite games namely Oblivion and GTA San Andreas
For Oblivion I need to turn on pixel shaders in the winecfg app
When playing GTA I have to turn the pixel shaders off because it runs very slowly
Is there something I could run in a script before executing each game (in the same script) which would either turn pixel

Pixel/Vertex shader status
Hi,
I'm just hoping someone can tell me what's going on with shaders in wine. I have a couple of games that will run, but the 3D graphics are corrupted. The games are Clive Barker's Jericho, and Tomb Raider Underworld. They both start and the menu screens work, but the 3D graphics are completely wacked out. Are these maybe examples of shader 3.0, DX9, or something? Is there much

WoW - fix pixel shader flicker
I just did a fresh install of Wine (1.3.1) and World of Warcraft. The WoW
in-game options interface has changed since the last time I needed to
messed with settings and there is no longer a box to disable
shadows/pixel shading. It is now a slider that can be moved to low but
not turned off. This was causing an odd flickering of objects (walls, trees,
etc.) where they would go back and forth

[LLVMdev] Vector LLVM extension v.s. DirectX Shaders
Dear all:
To write a compiler for Microsoft Direct3D shaders from our hardware,
I have a program which translates the Direct3D shader assembly to LLVM
assembly. I added several intrinsics for this purpose.
It's a vector ISA and has some special instructions like:
* rcp (reciprocal)
* frc (the fractional portion of each input component)
* dp4 (dot product)
* exp (exponential)
* max, min

[LLVMdev] Fortress project calls it quits due to lack of a decent VM
One sort of questions why a company the size of Oracle, working with DARPA funding, wouldn't have the resources to design the virtual machine they required for the project... although reading the article they never do *quite* say that Fortress is being put down... just that the research group is winding down on it, the JVM target work isn't going to be completed, and the current

Forcing DirectX 8.1?
Hi. I'm running Debian Lenny, and I'm having a problem with Wine and playing TF2.
I used to be able to play TF2 under DirectX 8.1 before updating to the newest version, no problems. I didn't even have to use the option -dxlevel 81, it was already set to it when I looked under video settings in TF2.
However, with Wine 0.9.59, it seems that the DirectX that comes bundled with Wine is

[LLVMdev] Fortress project calls it quits due to lack of a decent VM
I thought this would be of interest to LLVM developers: The Fortress
project, which was an attempt to create a very advanced language with
implicit parallelism, parametric polymorphic types and many other cutting
edge language features, has announced that they are winding down the
project. What I found very interesting was that one of the reasons they
gave was the lack of a suitable execution

Slow performance with many 3D games
Lots of 3D games such as Team Fortress 2, Audiosurf or Stalker have very low performance in comparison to running on the same computer on Windows. What can I do to improve it? What developers have still to implement to fully support 3D rendering?

bestfortress driver establishes/loses/establishes communication and so on...
[As posted as Ubuntu Question #184284 on Launchpad]
Hi, I try to set up nut (2.4.3) on my Lucid (10.04.3 LTS) to make use of
my old but very trusty UPS (Best Power Fortress 660 LI).
Yes, this UPS is old (about 16 years), but with its third battery pack
last week it is as good as new. It runs perfectly well with Windows XP,
Vista and even Windows 7. But not so with Ubuntu and nut.

Shader error with GMA 950 in The Sims 3
I have an Intel GMA 950 and I installed Sims 3 on vista. It works but crash after 10 min. I reinstalled Sims 3 on Ubuntu 9.04 with playonlinux script.
Install works fine but when I start the game, I have this error :

nv50 microcode/shader format
Hello there,
With the use of CUDA and ptx I managed to make a disassembler for at least
one of the nv50 microcode/shader formats. This might come in handy for some
people, hence I'm posting it here:
http://www.cs.rug.nl/~wladimir/decuda/
I'm not yet sure if pixel/vertex shaders use the same instruction format as
the compute shaders used by CUDA, but you'd think so, as nv50 is

3DMark06 doesn't detect Pixel Shader 2.0
When trying to run 3DMark06, it doesn't detect at
least Pixel Shader 2.0, and therefore refuses to run
any tests.
I've tried with and without UseGLSL = enabled in the
registry, and Pixel Shaders are turned on.
Pixel shaders and vertex shaders are both detected as
3.0 by other apps, such as the Call of Duty 2.0 start
up process.
3DMark03 has a Pixel Shader 2.0. test, which it
detects and

1.I get no background image in the menu,
2. there is no crossair in the game,
3. the scoreboard doesn't appear by click tab,
4. the frag notifications doesn't

[LLVMdev] [GSoC] "Microsoft Direct3D shader bytecode backend" proposal
Here's the other of my proposals for this year's Google Summer of Code.
(The first is on cfe-dev.) It was suggested to me by Dan Kegel (from the
Wine project, they really want this).
Title: Microsoft Direct3D shader bytecode backend
Abstract:
There is a distinct lack of open-source frameworks for compiling HLSL,
the shader language used by Direct3D, into bytecode that D3D can

Question about winecfg/pixel shader for some games
I currently have CNC3, GTA:SA, COD4 working real good in Wine (amazing AppDB pages!!) but what I'm wondering is: For GTA:SA I have to go to winecfg > Graphics > uncheck Allow Pixel Shader to make the game playable. Yet, if I want to run COD4 or CNC3, neither will start without the pixel shader option checked.
Instead of having to go into winecfg everytime to change it in between games
